The possibilty of a deal with the Coyotes seems to be overlooked. They have a ton of good young defensemen, and now that salary can be traded, it makes it seem more likely that the Flyers could go after a guy like Yandle...although I suspect that Phoenix will demand a premium - Jsaquella
What about a guy like Rundblad? Was pretty highly touted, and was part of the Turris trade I believe. He can't seem to get out of the AHL. I doubt they would move Gormley. I just think the best route for the Flyers is to identify a guy who can turn into a top pairing d-man in a few years, but can still give decent minutes now on the third pairing.
What are your thoughts on Ghost? I read he is supposed to turn pro after the collegiate season. I could see him here contributing in two years and maybe a spot call-up next year. |

A big part of this whole young d-man thing is to me is how well will Bryzgalov be holding up by the time such d-man is really ready to contribute.
How I would kill for OEL. |

Except you're using stats in such a limited way, it really doesn't help your point.
If you just look at +20 vs +9, sure, +20 is better. But when you actually dig deeper you see different.
Del Zotto was +20, while averaging 22:26 minutes a night on a good team that had a +39 goal differential.
Subban was +9 on a bad team, playing 24:18 minutes a night. His team's goal differential was -14.
Subban's advanced stats, such as Corsi & Fenwick show that his overall game was superior to Del Zotto, especially when he carried a much heavier load in key areas like quality of competiton faced and zone starts. - Jsaquella
subban projects as a future norris trophy candidate. don't see that for del zotto.

I've watched a few of his games for Union when NBC Sportsnet had College games on. He looks tiny, but seems to be a good skater with a good feel for the game. Definitely has skill.
Rundblad is intriguing. He's bounced around now, but the skill set is still there. My guess is, if it comes down to money in Phoenix-either with the NHL or Jamison owning the team, they'd prefer to move Yandle. I think OEL is their untouchable, but that's at a guess. I haven't watched a ton of Coyotes games this "season" |

I recall us discussing Nurse, Poluck, Domi, Rychel, Hartman & McCoshen.
I also recall discussing Mantha with somebody, but it wasn't OB-possibly one of his CHL guru guys on twitter - Jsaquella

It's been called a pretty deep draft. Same goes for next year's.
OB18 follows juniors more closely than I do, but he's mentioned quite a few names on that list in our conversations - Jsaquella
Plenty to be impressed with but to just pick one I'd say Josh Morrissey, D, Prince Albert but a goalie to keep an eye on is Zach Fucale, G, Halifax who has started from the moment he arrived last year as a 16 year old & is now the only goalie in the QMJHL history to start his career with back to back 30 win seasons.
But it all means nothing if the Flyers don't exercise patience in any draft picks development |

Agreed. MDZ does what he does pretty well, but he always felt to me like real solid 2nd pair guy, who could be used on the 1st PP unit.
I;d prefer Subban, but I'd be happy if they could get MDZ, too. |

You think there is a chance in hell the Flyers move up to draft Jones?
Looking around the league the options for top level D are slim. Im not too high on Yandle personally. |
