Maybe Lavi is thinking back to the havoc the 4th line did in the first meeting. - Stinkfitz
I thin sestito deserves some time in the big league.. to at least see what he can do..
But mcginn should be in there over him imo |

That it is most certainly is and will be. Playing there for the first time is a milestone, regardless of whether it's an athlete or entertainer.
Side note: You'd think MSG management would invest a little more money in better ice care for their hockey team. MSG ice is annually among the worst surfaces in the entire NHL-- just as bad as the rinks in Florida. It's been a chronic problem as long as I've been following hockey, which dates back to the mid-1970s. Yes, I know MSG hosts all sorts of events, but there are many multi-purpose facilities around the league that manage that issue a lot better. - bmeltzer
No doubt about the bad ice, Bill. Being as "mature" as me , you will remember the sad days when Hockey got kicked out for the damn Circus......during the playoffs to boot! Progress is slow, eh? |

That would be the best case scenario.
The worst case scenario is Sestito and Rinaldo breathing near Brad Richards or Gaborik too heavily and ending up in the box.
Not to see that there wouldn't or couldn't be cheesy calls to players other than those two, but it does seem cheesy calls follow them around. |

Used to happen at the Spectrum, too. Could smell the elephants during the playoffs.

They both seem to be looked at a little more closely. I wouldnt mind seeing shelly with Mcginn and Feds. He played real good for the Rangers when traded there and maybe the 24/7 where he was called irrelavent still has him ticked off cause he played a real good game and if he were to get a second game i wouldnt mind seeing it be tonight. |

Good points. You just don't recover from that overnight. Let's see how Detroit does not having that rock back at the blueline every game. - MJL
Detroit has 4 Cups in the bank already, if they struggle somewhat I'm sure their fanbase will be ok with it. |

Maybe not, but if Detroit struggles some without Lidstrom who really cares is my point. |

Surprised you could smell that over the stench of dried up beer on the ground.
Those were the days. |

I'm sure their fans will care, even if there's a healthy grace period before any headhunts are scheduled. I'll tell you what, Lidstrom could name any number right now and they'd probably sign the check for one more season. |

I went to a sunday night game after the eagles had lost to the Raiders earlier that day, the parking lot looked like a scene from mad max and smelled like a cesspool. Good times indeed. |

I hear you. Lidstrom is a fantastic player. Even when he retired he was still a top player. He went out on his terms, that is important for players. If I was a Wings fan, they could suck for the next decade and I would be ok with it. They have given their fans more than they could imagined over the last 15 years. And btw, they are a first class Organization, the model of the NHL imo. With Holland and Babcock, along with stable ownership they won't suck. They may not be quite as good the next few years but they will be a solid playoff team. |

I'll be @ Shorties in Hells Kitchen to witness the game with coworkers. A proper Philly cheesesteak coupled with some beers should make a blowout loss or lack of competition easier to handle. |

That's got nothing really to do with the point. And that only buys you so much time. |

2. Why is P.K. Subban's new deal ($2M and $3.75M) permissible in new CBA that has a 35 per cent variance rule now in effect?
anyone have an answer for this one?

I seriously doubt that a fanbase is going to give a team a 10 year grace period. |

That only applies to frontloaded deals, not backloaded deals |

Good point, Joe. I should have added that to my last post.
Lavi had nothing to do with the lack of practice time. He can thank Mr. Snider and his owner buddies and the players and their union for it. - Flyskippy
While part of me appreciates his candid response, the flyer fan in me wishes he just gave the usual pr line like "in a rough patch dealing with unjuries, still early in the season, haven't been as good as we know we are etc, etc." eviscerating a portion of the team publicly isn't conducive to succes IMO. |
