something to do w/ the rear, that impatience - isaiah520
The problem is, don't praise the GM for remaking the team with kids and then excoriate him 2 years later because the kids from (18-23 year olds) he traded the 26 & 27 year olds for aren't as fully developed as the vets he sent packing.
My belief is that Holmgren wants to build a younger team, but pressure from above drives the deals for vets. |

I don't even have to look this up to know it's wrong, Kadri has 24pts in 56 games played and is out scoring B. Schenn career wise.
Anyhow, just passing through checking on a reported post. - LeafMan

One of the things that has crossed my mind is that Snider could push Holmgren to trade up and get Seth Jones at any cost because of his Youth Hockey Fundation. Jones could be the 1st African-American superstar in the league and though his back story is vastly different than innercity kids, he could be a very big roll model. - psuhockey
Snider would be more likely to push a trade for Subban. He pays lip service to patience and building through kids and not dealing for vets, then pushes Holmgren to add vets. |

I don't think the youth hockey foundation has anything to do with flyers operations. If it was important they would've made a hard push for iginla. |

I agree he needs some time and the offense will pick up but for some reason I just dont see huge offense from him in the future. We havent seen flashes of great hands or a great shot that may be a little inconsistent now that may become a steady part of his game.
I like the edge he plays with but i hope he stops dropping the gloves. I love a good fight but he hasnt faired to well in the few ive seen him in. - Stinkfitz
People need to relax with the Schenn expectations. In his 21-22 year old season, Claude had 47 points in 82 games. Would we be happy if Schenn "only" averaged 0.57 pts/game this year despite people thinking he has Richards' offensive upside, not Claude's? 9 points in 11 playoff games for a 21 year old is damn impressive in my book. The offense and all-around game will come around, we all have to be patient which I know is tough for Philly fans.
And take a look at Mike Richards this year. I'm sure things will change, but he just picked up his first point in 5 games last night on a Flyers connection PPG. Schenn's got 2 assists in 5 games..but feel free to continue bashing Schenn's skills. |

Brayden Schenn has to start playing like he is the real deal, tired of hearing about his potential. At this time in his career Bobby Ryan was already a 30 goal scorer.Wonder if Ryan still wants out of anaheim.Schenn of course is not the only problem here a coaching change would do a world of good also,Lavys time is up never been impressed with his system.Although the flyers have done major player changes the results and work ethic are the same.imo - richiewinthecup
At this same point in his career (age 21, 2nd pro year), Bobby Ryan had 5 career NHL goals heading into the season and was just starting to establish himself as a regular in the Ducks' lineup after a year in the minor leagues.
I do agree that Schenn needs to elevate his game and be much more assertive about going to the net.
Ryan has become a good NHL player, not a superstar. He's been surrounded by top-caliber linemates in Anaheim (Getzlaf and Perry) and is a bankable 30-35 goal guy who scores in bunches and then has long droughts. I doubt there's be a bump up to 40+ goal guy even if he played with Giroux. Ryan also hasn't exactly been lighting things up in the early going of this season.
Would Ryan be a nice addition to the Flyers (apart from his local ties and the organization coveting him for years)? Yes. But he's not a player you break the bank for. Wanna break the bank on a blockbuster trade that costs a lot of assets? Go get a top-pairing defenseman in return instead of a 30-goal winger.

All players develop at their own and different pace. B Schenn has played 80 NHL games. And he has scored 15 goals and 16 assists in those games. Mike Richards in his first NHL Season recorded 11 goals and 23 assists. I agree that Schenn needs to pick up his play, but he is still basically a rookie. - MJL
Schenn 68 games 12 goals 10 assists 22 pts. |

But first we need to fire Laviolette and trade Bryzgalov.

he didn't think he was strong enough
"It's definitely strength, getting bigger for the next level," Laughton said. "I thought my speed was pretty good here but definitely strength. I'm 190 - isaiah520[pounds] and want to get to 195, build strength. [I need to] get bigger in the upper body."
if you hurry, you can grab airfare to oshawa to argue with him face-to-face...
I would imagine Oshawa is delightful this time of year.

Besides the fact that he was one of our best players in the playoffs?
he put up 9 points in 11 playoff games despite obviously showing some affects of the Asham hit.
3 goals, 6 assists, and 28 hits.. in 11 games.. over a full season thats a pretty impressive stat line..
Stats expanded for an 82 games season:
22 goals
45 assists
67 points
209 hits
Yea, he hasnt shown anything. |

I think this would count as Snider putting the tam on notice.
I think if they're still struggling at the 10 game point, we see something happen. Maybe Laviolette walks the plank, maybe Snider forces a deal...impatience will rear it's head - Jsaquella
I definitely read that as a shot across Lavvy's bow. |

Big year for both to bust out a bit statistically, B.Schenn has one more year after this one I believe then is an RFA, but it is an RFA year for Kadri, it is a big year for these guys developmentally. |

That's my feeling. Not saying that Holmgren doesn't want to win immediately, but prior to assuming the GM job, he used to complain(jokingly) about Clarke trading away picks. |

Not sure what the coach can do right now. There's no time to practice, it boils down to the players IMO. |
