kessel's return will net so much less than was spent to get him, I wonder if the Leaf management team has the balls to deal him.

kessel has had a slow start, big deal.....he always comes through. This is a young player who has done exceptionally well in goals and points every year he has played in the NHL. If the Leafs trade him it should be to finally get the Kessel trade distraction over, for the benefit of the team and player! The Toronto media has been relentless with this young man and he deserves better. The fact that he could demand 7 or 8 million as stated in this article says it all. There are no gaurantees in the draft, and if Toronto gives up on Phil for draft picks they are again throwing the dice while they watch a quality/young star player walk.

That said, Kessel for Kane and a pick.

Evander or Patrick?

I wouldnt deal him.

Id deal Liles, MacArthur and Grabo.

Only way I would deal Grabo is if it brings back a number 1 C. Other than that, it's not really worth it.

And Nonis had nothing to do with the team a couple months ago? You guys sure made a huge zone of seperation for him and team decisions.

The concern for the Leafs is that Kessel may not want to stay in Toronto and all the media attention unless he is overpaid and he is not would you would call a centerpiece type player. He is an extremely valuable talent, but not a first line center or a franchise goalie.

If he want's a big pay hike (which given his past desires for the almight $$ he probably will) then deal him. If his demands aren't crazy then why not keep him. You can just have all inexperienced kids on the team - you need some skill and experience and he gets the job done.

But yeah....he's gonna wanna get paid so move him if that's the case.

25. Whatever the Maple Leafs decide to do with Phil Kessel, the one reason I'd be wary of trading him is he is perfectly suited to playing in Toronto. He doesn't pay attention to anything: the newspapers, sports radio, etc. It's hard to insulate yourself from that intensity. It's why Toronto and Montreal were ready to throw millions at the Sedins, who are similarly unbothered. Those guys can be hard to find.

I'd trade him. Good player but not the type you build a team around rather a top notch supplemental talent.

which kane are you referring to? not that it matters.

winnipeg isn't trading evandar kane for kessel straight up, and they CERTAINLY aren't throwing in a pick.

and i'm pretty sure if you're refering to patrick kane, again, i doubt chicago is moving him. however, if they did, it's the leafs who are including the pick, not the hawks. patrick kane is a better player then kessel, IMO.
