Liles has been pretty good. Nothing great, but Liles hasn't been bad. Its a big contract, but I dont think its completely untradeable. Wont get a big return, but you'll get something.

Eg.

Cap Hits:
Subban - $2.875
Del Zotto - $2.55
Liles - $4.25

- 1979AD[/img]

There is a big difference between signing a contract as a UFA and as a RFA. Especially when one contract was signed when the Cap was on the rise, and the other two when the cap was going down.

To be honest, I haven't really noticed him out there, which is usually a good thing for a defenceman.

4 assists in 6 games - he hasn't been too shabby.

But yeah, I was loving him all over when he first arrived. We need that guy back.

And I sincerely doubt they will be buying him out.

Having Gardiner and Rielly on the roster will make his skill set redundant and his contract detrimental. They'll have to try and trade him for whatever they can get, and use the amnesty buyout if necessary.

Of course there are circumstances to explain the difference in salaries. It doesn't change the fact he's ridiculously overpaid by current standards.

I see no reason why you cant have all three. Cant have enough good puck moving Dmen.

Nothing needs changing except the fact where we call him ridiculously overpaid. He isnt. Thats why the circumstances which explain his salary are relevant.

Because one isn't particularly good and paid way too much for the next 4 years.

This proves nothing that contradicts what I said.

It only shows 4 dmen, one of which is Komi who is the one who should be bought out. Which leaves 3 spots open. Like I said, there will be roster spots. 3 of them at the least. Just like I said.

id may be enough to simply amnesty komi, but i think the organization realizes though that the biggest weakness is on D, maybe even more than in net, the overhall is needed there.

For who?

Leafs don't have anyone better at the moment who can replace Liles.

I think a more plausible scenario is an amnesty buyout in the summer of 2014.

I said what I think. They should look to trade him. If not, I have no problem with him being around. Its only 3 years after this one. Not a big deal at all.

lol lou we know logic has no place in here!

good point though.

so yes, liles is not rielly or gardiner, but you know what he is people...a puck moving D man who is more of a vet, someone to guide gardiner and rielly...god forbid we kept him.

buy out komisarek, and then make a trade we get a good prospect and a salary dump, not a reliable D man like Liles.

leafs nation, always up in arms about the dumbest poop...first bozak, now liles....whos next?

For the love of Spinner's Dad, can we not talk about Rielly with the Leafs next year?

Pretty please?

you mean the fact that you can only sign with one team limits a guys options?!?!?

NO WAY

They have 3 spots open. They can keep both.

No reason to just throw players away without a logical plan and replacement in place.
