Been enjoying watching the games this season. Know they blew lead in Winnipeg, but I thought they were lucky to get one point after the way they sleep walked through the first two periods. Def not Stanley cup champs, but it is good to see the Islanders playing like a team, even with a makeshift defense. Rooting hard for these guys this year after the commitment shown by the extensions their young guys signed, mostly JT. Looking forward to a 5 year deal for Hamonic next. That kid deserves it. Works his tail off

The next 3 or 4 games should tell us a lot about this team. I'm not sure yet. Leaning towards uncompetitive . The defensive structure in their own zone is putrid. It's just as much on the forwards as it is the defensemen

anyone notice how the team seems to start every game giving opposing forwards tons of space and backs off the line and only corrects it for portions of the game? I think this is our biggest problem. Lack of aggressiveness to challenge the opposition and instead spending too much time giving space and trying not to get caught.

I'm okay with getting caught at times, but it drives me (frank)ing nuts to see them give up all the space to the face off dots before trying to challenge the shooter. Close the gaps and take away the time and space and you'll spend a lot less time chasing in your own end.
