I'm going to have to argue with you on that one, San Francisco I would take over Philly. Just my opinion.

That is my second... Lincecum went like 6-15 last season after winning the Cy Young.. I do like Cain and Bumgardener a lot..

Vogelsong and Zito are work to do.

Halladay, Lee, and Hamels are just an amazing 3 some together. Lannen and Cloyd have to step up.

I quite confidently state this as my own opinion - Tyler Myers will never be an elite defenseman in the NHL. He doesn't have the right makeup.
- sambarugh

I disagree, he's alreasy been elite in his career. He just needs to mature. He makes plays that only Elite players make, his mistakes are plays young defenseman routinely make, it would be a huge mistake to not let him develope. If you watched him in last nights OT you can see what he's capable of. I presonally think he has a problem being in shape to start the season, that will change as he gets older hopefully

I think the Norris year was an anomally.

I don't think he makes elite plays.

I think he's tall and has a long reach.

I hope I'm wrong but I'm going with my intuition.

really? He was our best player against Philly in the playoffs. Look at a few of his OT winners not to many defenseman make those type of plays. His offensive instincts are elite he just lacks confidence right now. 2 games in a row he made 2 great passes to set up guys alone in front of the net and Ennis and Grigo couldn't put it home. It has shown too that when he is playing well the Sabres in general play well. That tells you how important he is. But hey I could be wrong too, only time will tell with him. Hopefully we give him the time

Sorry bout the boldness

The boldness is THE TRUTH style but I kinda agree with you. Seems he has been under the microscope and although he has looked bad at times he is still a very good young D-man that will only get better...........under a different coach.

Its as simple as 'was he doing his 1/6th on the ice?' If he wasn't then perhaps a benching is warranted, if he is doing his part, then I would fully expect an NHL coach to be able to dissect and understand that not everybody on a line is at fault on a single goal.

Frattin goal Sekera blatantly whiffed when he stepped up, the guy he whiffed on (Frattin) scored the rebound.

Franson goal Grigorenko was indeed caught in no mans land. As the center he should have been battling in front to help Miller see the puck. He was accomplishing nothing where he was (floating near the top of the circle). However he did atone for the mistake as his goal was scored after that.

Still doesnt resolve the question of why somebody would think Ellis helps you win a game more than Grigorenko during crunch time.

Sometimes I wonder if anyone that rips on Myers around here watches any other teams with promising young D-men play hockey. One second Karlson looks like a G-D magician out there and in the same 30 second shift he also makes 3 defensive mistakes, yet no one with any hockey sense would say that he should be traded or cut or that he sucks. They are just young hockey players working through mistakes (and hopefully learning how to stop making them, but it won't happen all at once). I can't really name any defenseman that came in and was just lights out shut down defender in their first 3 years.

I think you're confused.

My team isn't the one that trades their 1st round pick regularly.

im not sure which way i lean on him as there is evidence both ways. but i have thought his attitude/demeanor this year has been a bit off.

in certain situations on the ice he looks indifferent when he should be enraged (at least in my opinion), and in interviews he seems defensive. cant put my finger on it- but he seems off (ruff??)

there was also that thin over the summer where he was supposed to be next in line to be the team rep during the lockout stuff and just decided not to do it. leopold stepped up out of necessity. seemed weird and didnt get much press but...

Lindy has a wood-ie over players that try 125% every time.. i can't blame him at times but it has really screwed this team in the past. Matt Ellis, Adam Mair, Gerbe and i am sure their are others.. these guys had/have no standing as NHL players but Ruff likes their effort and rewards them for it. I would much rather have them in Rochester teaching and showing the kids what honest effort looks like than taking faceoffs in the offensive zone with 46 sec left in a tie game.

Tyler Myers will be the next Chara. Remember Chara early in his career with Ottawa? He wasn't as feared back than. But with years of experience, he became a feared monster on Boston. You guys are expecting too much too soon from this guy. He's going to be great. But I tell u what, if Buffalo ever wants to trade him, I'll gladly have Myers on the Leafs.

I'm not even a fan of the team and it bothers me. I'm sorry for those like yourself that do root for the Sabres.

"Sabres sole existence is to the win the Stanley Cup", but we will play Matt Ellis in crunch time, ha.

People wanna use the size comparison, it's relevant but not that accurate. Look at Prongers forst 3 seasons in the NHL, I would say he was nothing special either. People say Myers isn't physical which is not true, he actually has almost as many hits as Pronger in 09-10 season when they both played full seasons
