I think he is a player searching for an identity. He is NOT a scorer, He is NOT a checker. HE is NOT a PK guy. He is not a PP guy. He is NOT a banger what the Frank is he good for. - bixll

I'm the other way. I thought Mcdonalds hit last night was much worse then Dion's hit on JT. I thought he would get 1 game but I can't complain about the ruling - Vukota
Players need to realize you don't stand 2 feet from the boards and turn your back.

Colin Mcdonald gets 2 games....
Phenouf is still waiting for his phone call / hearing on his Tavares hit...
NHL is a joke... Wasnt even that bad a hit, should of happened and Mcdonald has to be smarter but I thought it should of been a 4min double minor for boarding at most. - Bags502
cant compare the mcdonald hit and the phenouf hit...totally different.
i dont think phenouf should be suspended; my issue with that is he didnt even get a penalty. |

Phaneuf should have got a call, refs have been missing alot of boarding/charging calls as far as going the Isles way, SOS. I know. In the Boston game there were a few. Mcdonalds hit was a little over the top, he followed through the whole way, it was a bad hit. |

It doesn't matter then are gonna call it 99% of the time. Regardless you're still responsible for the hit even if he has his back turned. |

What about the Dupres hit on Ullstrom? I know Ullstrom was in an awkward position but he still drove his head into the boards... Oh wait, he playes for the Penguins, nevermind. |

They are avoidable to an extent. When a player turns away from the hit is when they get into trouble. Just bcs a player has his back to the ice during play with the puck does/should not make it OK for him to get hit. There are other ways to make a defensive play without smashing the guys head into the boards. There are exceptions occaisionally of course with some players turning to draw a penalty or reading the play wrong, etc. |

Stop it Butch Ullstrom was in the process of falling down on his own when he was hit. Not even in the same league |

Definite penalty and i wouldn't have been shocked if he got a call from Shanahan with his track record. It was a borderline dirty play. We've all seen player get suspended for far less. |

My bigger problem with Phaneuf is that this isn't the first time he's targeted JT. It's the third by my count. So now we have an illegal hit from a player who has tageted that player on multiple occasions and yet it's not even reviewed?
I definitely feel that McDonald deserved at least a game. That said, I don't think it was as 'intentional' as it appears on film. I think McDonald definitely initiated the contact but I also think he tried to roll off to the left a bit so as to lesson the collision. Unfortunately the player leaned left as well. Regardless, it was a dangerous irresponsible hit and by the NHL's standards, a punishable offense. |

Im just trying to prove a point that Isles never get calls... I understand they never do and prob wont until they are a good team every year but If the NHL is trying to stop hits to the head and protect the players then it shouldnt matter... Dupres saw Ullstom falling and in an awkward position and still finished his check. Ullstrom was hurt but if he was, then there would of been a review of it.
NHL just need to be more consistant on there rulings and stop being hypocrits with certain players getting special treatment. |

He drove is head into the boards, so did Mcdonald...
Just be consitant, thats all I ask... |

While I agree with part of what you're saying but there was nothing wrong with the hit on Ullstrom. Ullstrom fell on his own as the guy was coming to hit him, maybe if it was the matrix Dupres might have been able to stop |

I'd much rather see Phaneuf take the severe beating he deserves than get a game off. A game off means that whoever they play next won't get to knock his block off for what he undoubtedly did last time. Am I implying that he is a dirty player? Why, yes.....yes, I am... |

But he probably never will cuz he just turtles everytime he knows he gonna take a beating... Hes like Avery... Hits, talks sh!t, and then runs and hides except for the rare occasion when he tries to fight someone smaller then him. |
