The good news.. we are 2 points out of a playoff spot.
I'm putting the point thresh-hold to make the playoffs around 58 points. With 41 games left we'll need 54 points... so we're gonna have to go 26-15 from here on out... IMO... - Flyersgod
9 games left vs Tampa, Rangers, and the Devils.
Assuming we lose all of them, that gives us a wiggle room of 6 games vs the rest of the conference. We haven't even played Boston yet...
So outside of those 3 teams, the flyers really can't afford to lose another game to anyone else. |

He was very well respected in the room for sure. I just think 4.5 is a lot of money to commit to a guy who can't stay healthy at this stage of his career. I understand what you are saying though. - PLindbergh31
I wouldn't have signed him for what Dallas did but I'd have taken him for the $3.3m he made last year. I know he wanted a raise though. |

As scoob pointed out my math was off...
We have 1 less game of wiggle room... will have to go 27-14....

John Boruk tweeted last night how Bryzgalov has done a complete role reversal. He was trying to calm the team down last night which would have been ridiculous at the beginning of last year. Shows you how comfortable he's gotten here. Now we just need the players in front of him to chill out as well. - NickTheKid87
I meant to point that out actually.. with about 3:00 minutes left in the game, the Flyers were regrouping in their zone... Bryz skates a couple strides out and literally does a double hand gesture bringing his hands down saying "calm down". Great to see. |

But it's not like the Devils are exactly running out a bunch of all-stars on the blueline, yet they are defensively solid.
Truth.
New Devils captain Bryce Salvador is a perfect example of this. He's never been anything special, but he's solid and plays well within the framework the Devils provide. |

I loved seeing it... we need a goalie with some fire i think.. if the goalie gets into the game the players immediately get into it..
Hextall knew that too.. but he was legit nuts... lol
This team needs to find a way to get in the game. They play great when emotions are high. When other teams ignore them we lose interest. Like children with ADD. |

I hope he was yelling at them to get their ish together. It must suck for him to be playing his ass off behind that mess. |

I truely believe that NJ gets coaches with systems. Then gets players that fit PERFECTLY into that system.
Makes me sick watching it.. but gotta give them credit. They should be the framework franchise for teams that don't want to spend to the cap.

I wonder if there would be any takers... Which goalie in the east do you think would be his best bet at even getting a fight?

Maybe Fleury. A goalie fight is probably the only thing the Philly-Pittsburgh rivalry is missing.
DiPietro, maybe, if he's healthy/playing. He's done it before.
Tim Thomas, if he ever came out of retirement or whatever he's doing nowadays. |

He signed a 2 year/$5m per deal with Avangard. He re-signed there for a third year but I don't know for how much. He made a ton when he signed with the Rags. Over $9m+ for 6 years or so. He owns HC Kladno as well. |

I'm really surprised it took this long for a suggestion to be made to bag skate the team. Completely overused and overrated as a Coaching tool. All that would accomplish is to tire out the team, and it wouldn't solve any of the issues they have. It's a waste of time and energy. This team would be much better off using the limited practice time it has. To use PP and PK drills. Breakout drills. And puck battle drills. That would all go much further to help this team get out of it's funk. then an archaic bag skate. |
