Whats the point though?
Is a bag skate more important than going over PP and PK adjustments. Is it more important than working on the breakout and rush? - jak521
You still do all that... guys... a bag skate doesn't take the place of practice...
Its additional to practice. You don't have to do 90 minutes of it.
You run your normal practice, and at the end you run them.

It isn't more important than those things. There are only so many days you can practice. There is practically a game every other day. In addition to the special teams being a mess, and the passing being sloppy, as Bill eluded to in his blog, the Flyers are getting completely massacred at the dot. That is a huge issue as well. |

I think the team just needs to relax, not have stress added. They need to just start playing their game. Start by simplifying each players' game. - NickTheKid87
Simplification is the easiest way to right the ship. All the little things add up to big things. K.I.S.S. may seem "old fashioned" but it works. I hate using injuries as an excuse, but missing Hartsy and Mez hurts the team big time. G is basically playing with brand new linemates this year and with the team not performing well, he is trying to do too much to compensate for that. It takes time to build chemistry with line mates. I'm not sure if he's still injured or not either, but you know hockey players and how notorious they are for playing through that stuff! |

Great read Bill.
Logic and reason tend to be tossed out of the window when the Flyers play poorly. |

At this point everything is an issue with this team except goaltending.
All starts with the willingness to out work your opponent imo. We are having a tough time keeping up with every team we've played so far. Maybe some skating would go a long way for these guys. |

For what? What do you gain from that. These are not 13-14 year olds. Guys like Timonen and Briere need every bit of rest they can get. The schedule is compressed.. playing three times within 4 days, routine back to backs... why bag skate guys? |

they are already playing 48 games in 99 days.......I don't see any good out of running a team into the ground. hard practice and off ice preparation for sure but killing them makes no sense to me honestly |

I agree. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm as frustrated as any Flyers fan right now, but they really need to be working on their game plan and getting the different parts of the team in sync. A bag skate would not be a prudent use of limited practice time right now. |

I understand that. I really do.
But to me, they're already playing like they do daily bag skates. They've been outworked by every team except Florida.
I'd use the bag skate to shake the rust out of them and get them focused on hockey and winning games.
I don't think we'll make the playoffs... but that doesn't mean i want them to fail. I'd love to be wrong and them make the playoffs.
Thats just my belief... I do understand what you guys are saying though. |

The bestest part about last nights game:
Kimmo's shot that he put in the top corner and hearing it ring of the post\crossbar!
That was sweeeet. The sound just added to the deliciousness of that goal!!!

Out of 7 games they've played this year they haven't shown up for 2 of those games.
Its not like they're playing their asses off and getting exhausted... they're half assing everything and hell half the time they aren't even backchecking.
I get it.. we don't want to wear them out. Me? I think they are professional atheletes who have trained for years for this. They shouldn't be worn out.
They looked exhausted last night, and they had the day off the day before.
Jak, don't get me wrong, your point is legit in my mind. And to everyone else i'm sure... i just don't think there is time left with these guys at this point in the year.

I'm not proclaiming it to be the truth.. just my prediction for the year is all.
I'd rather be wrong about everything i've ever said, then to be right about any of it.

I just hate the Rags. it always seems like they have 2 blue shirts out there for every one orange. any goal we get seems like one part miracle and one part giving birth. |

The way you play the rangers, in my opinion, is to throw everything on net and crash through their guys who have collapsed.
They want you to pass the puck around and try to get the perfect shot. Crash the net and good things will happen. |

People are going nuts right now because of this poor start to the season... lets look at the roster now, as in today, compared to the playoffs last season.
Out: Carle (FA), Jagr (FA), JvR (trade), Hartnell (injury), Meszy (injury)
In: Feds, Foster, Gervais, Knuble.
Pretty even trade right? Come on... we have to expect some drop in play. We are still skilled, but losing 3 top 6 forwards, and 2 top 4 D-men... ouch |
