He still might be a good coach, but this team needs a new voice. Look at the Blues. They were a basement team, Hitchcock came in and turned them around quickly without much personnel change.

This team would be above average with the right coach.

- jacquescloutier

This might be the case here. But Pegula has done is say to these guys, I am wiping the slate clean because you did not have the ability to get the tools to succeed. Now you will have those tools and we will see how good you can do. That typically takes more time than 1 season and 6 games.

So.. How much better do you guys actually think this team would be with a new coach?

Leino hasn't done anything different then he's done for any other coach...
Ehrhoff* - has been one of our best Defensement since coming here. The only thing different for him is that he doesn't have Sedin twins to stack up PP points for him on his breakout passes...
Myers - Also one of our teams best players, you have nothing to say other than the BS that other members on this board make up.
Stafford - Maybe you have me on this one, but I don't think he ever had the drive needed to succeed at this level.
Roy - Really? We got more from him then any team will ever get from him....

You didn't back any of those up with any examples of how Ruff ruined them, so I'm assuming you are just full of poop and throwing out names.

BTW I love your "take away that year" statement on Vanek. Vanek has done nothing but improve as an all around player year after year. Your opinion is now meaningless to me. Is there anyway to mute someone or not see their posts?

- JCSabs06

Myers our teams best player????? You have lost your mind. And Ehrhoff???? you kidding me? I was wrong about Vanek but thats it. But I see Vanek being a top 10 point guy on many other teams with better offensive coaching.

He was putting the puck in the net and making plays offensively. Something we were lacking that season....

I don't think throwing a skilled forward on the 4th line is gonna help him learn defense. Its just gonna kill his offensive skills.

- Smittyx36

I'll give you credit... as I look back at his stats more and more... he was getting a lot of points early on... He had 19 points in 27 games; then fell off to 1 point in his remaining 25 games. I also didn't realize that he was a 50% faceoff guy too.

wow.. maybe I shouldn't give Adam so much flack.

12 minutes why ?

Think about it.

- BuffaloHardHat

So someone who is in the penalty box for a whole period should be considered our best defenseman? Doesn't even make sense. Players were on the ice 2x as much as he was

I really liked what I saw from Adam early on. But because he wasn't the be good on both ends guy ruff like he ended up on the 4th line.

Now it seems as though he is done here in Buffalo. And will only have a chance at the NHL somewhere else.

Wow your a fool, weber did everything right with no mistakes, weber also does not play the pp and well lack of min that's on ruff, he over loads Hoff and Myers, and weber getting into a fight has nothing to do with his play in his own zone,
- Therat36

No he didn't, his failing to clear the zone led to a 1 1/2 minute zone play for the Leafs, again he wasn't on the ice enough to make too many mistakes

What happened with Luke Adams sucks. I might give you a point on this one. But even if it was Ruff's fault, Rolston hasn't been able to get him back on track (although this might be orders from the top, *I highly doubt any sports team, professional or otherwise would ever purposefully squander talent*)

Didn't he move to Wing in the AHL too??

I didn't realize he was 6'2 and 205 either.. that is pretty decent size.

he must be nothing compared to Matt Ellis though.

i think there would be a big collective "exhale" and the product would look different. for sure better at first.

long term, dont know -but- i think only then could we find out for sure about some players on this team- which would be very beneficial going forward...

Your judgement is cloudy I feel.

The minutes do not matter. The minutes that Weber played he was easily the Sabres best dman in his own zone. His minutes were fewer because of the penalty minutes he served for sticking up for team mates.

Just because Sekera scored did not make him the best dman. He was not good in his own end, Weber was very good. But I am not going argue this any longer.

Weber is the stay at home dman this team needs in that top 6.

I know that.. but if you look at his game by game stats.. besides a -4 outing agains TBL early on.. he wasn't a bad +/- guy until he got put on the 4th line.

he was -6 in his final 20 games..... so he was actually even for his first part of the season as a 1C

Yes they do. Give him 20 min and you will see why he started in the press box. Look at the Sabres overall record with Weber in the lineup, it's astoundingly bad

ellis is a fourth liner. you'd complain if someone with more talent took hiis spot then blame lindy for ruining said player, and you complain when a fourth liner is on the fourth line

he basically did what CoHo is doing now- putting up points with the top line while learning on the job how to play in his own end. looks like cody is getting a longer leash. must be a lindy type of guy...

IIRC vanek an pominville pulled away from him in production THEN he was moved to the fourth line. its obviously impossible to look back unless someone has line combos from every game, but his production stopped long before he was put on the fourth line

Now you are reaching soooooooooo far.

Just stop. How many players missed a solid opportunity before that to clear the zone?

I know how many. Let's see if you're right.
