The minutes do not matter. The minutes that Weber played he was easily the Sabres best dman in his own zone. His minutes were fewer because of the penalty minutes he served for sticking up for team mates.

Just because Sekera scored did not make him the best dman. He was not good in his own end, Weber was very good. But I am not going argue this any longer.

Weber is the stay at home dman this team needs in that top 6.

according to stats... Weber looks good.. he has an assist.. he had 3 hits which is only 1 less than Ehrhoff so far this season and 2 less than Myers. He had no blocked shots and no give aways either...

he had 13 minutes on the ice and 2:20 on the PK..

I am not saying he is not a good d-man.. but I just think you are overstepping to say he is or was our best based on 13 minutes of time on the ice. If he is able to keep it up then we can revisit this discussion. With Regehr hurt it looks like Weber will get his shot.

It's reaching because it's a very small sample size, 12 min remember. Why was he not used in overtime? 18 seconds played in OT. That's not because of a penalty, you would think our best defenseman would be out there

Anybody who only plays 13 minutes mostly against the offensive threats of Steckel, Orr, Brown, McClement or Komarov can look good in their own zone too.

Why? Because hecht lost and if not all skill offensively that he once had. L.Adam at least had offensive upside before being thrown on the 4th line last year.

I wouldn't mind seeing flynn or porter up. Anything is better then ellis and scott.

I wouldn't mind pulling up Porter (3rd fastest skater in AHL all-star comp in speed comp). Also, would not mind bringing up McNasty and his 102 MPH slap shot.

if porter and flynn (arguably good potential players) were called up and put on the fourth line and played 12 minutes a game you would all drill ruff for ruining their careers. and now that people nobody care about are playing on the fourth line you are drilling the team for having them on the team

hey... I like his stats from last year... in only 51 games he had team 2nd best 123 hits, and team 4th best 90 blocked shots... he saw about 18:30 ATOI too.

I like the guy.. I do... but he will never be more than a 4th d-man in this league.

They want offensive dmen playing in overtime. The one point is already achieved. Teams are less worried about defense in overtime 4on4 .
