He still might be a good coach, but this team needs a new voice. Look at the Blues. They were a basement team, Hitchcock came in and turned them around quickly without much personnel change.
This team would be above average with the right coach. - jacquescloutier
But wasn't Hitchcock HORRIBLE with Columbus?
Even the best coach in the history of sports got fired in Cleveland (bellicheck)...
Of course,
You want coaches to elevate players past their talent level,
But a coach can only do so much...
It's FAR more on the players whether they have the talent, and actually wanna put in the effort on a nightly basis, in order to BETTER THEMSElVES
Lindy gets way too much blame here
Should he get the "free pass" he's had?
Absolutely not
Does he "ruin" players?
I don't buy that crap at all...
I can point out TONS of players that came into their own & had their best years under Ruff
I will admit he sucks w how back-up goaltenders,
But I'll also say that a BIG reason almost all back-up goalies fail here is bc we've CONSISTANTLY had a sub-par defensive corps and the flaws that Miller is often good enough to mask their below average play |

we will never get that close to a top 5 pic. we are not good enough at failing . - cabin

They want offensive dmen playing in overtime. The one point is already achieved. Teams are less worried about defense in overtime 4on4 .
You didnt know that? - BuffaloHardHat
Excuses for Weber, that's been his whole career. Can't see the ice unless there is injuries |

I'm not saying put them on the 4th line!!! In a healthy lineup I would wanna see Kaleta Hecht Gerbe/Scott on the 4th line. - Smittyx36
When we are playing the Bruins with a healthy line up... I would like to see a fourth line of
kaleta - McCormick - Scott |

Its Tuukka time tonight in Boston, going to be tough for the Sabres. - fudd1689
Pretty sure you guys could just hang the mask of Gerry Cheevers on the crossbar and it would be tough for the Sabres tonight.

hey... I like his stats from last year... in only 51 games he had team 2nd best 123 hits, and team 4th best 90 blocked shots... he saw about 18:30 ATOI too.
I like the guy.. I do... but he will never be more than a 4th d-man in this league. - JVince11
I agree.
I just want his type of play, to be played more often in our top 6.
We have too many dmen that are offensive (no pun intended). We need Weber to dress more often in my opinion. |

yes. the same players who are blaming ruff for ruining players are the same people who are blaming regier for putting together a bad team. it doesnt work both ways

Excuse?
What excuse? In overtime 9 out of 10 coaches will play their offensive minded dmen rather than their defensive minded ones.
Not sure where you are going with that? |

If Weber can clean up the hits that he doesn't make.. I have no problem with him.. his biggest criticism last year was that he took himself out position too often to try to make a hit...
If Weber and McNabb could be our tough stay at home d-men for the next few years I would be ecstatic.. throw in McCabe to that group and it would be pretty... Pysyk is a well-round but more offensive guy.. and Ehrhoff, Myers, Sekera, and Brennan are all offensive minded players but are forced to try to play all around games which hinder their play, stats, and perception from fans.
just my 2 cents. |

I leave for 30 mins in a meeting and th eboard goes to hedes.
4th line should be Kaleta-Hecht-Scott(fill in body)
keeps your 2 best pk guys dressed and since they dont score teh 3 min non pk time they are out there doesnt hurt anyone. |

Tropp may never be the same which is a shame because he would be the best 4th liner we would have. |

How many teams have more than 4 offensive minded defenseman to play in OT? Usually the top 4 will rotate and the ones who are the better skaters becuase it is 4 on 4 and more open ice. That's what I'm saying, you call Myers a "tire fire" and a giraffe but 10 out of 10 times he will be on that ice instead of Weber. Your best defenseman play more than 18 seconds in OT. Weber is not and was not our best. |

its moot because most of the times your best defensemen are also adequately gifted offensively. |
