Yeah Voracek needs to snap out of it, and fast. During the stretch run leading into the playoffs and the Penguins series Jake was absolutely flying. He was patient and confident with the puck. Really solid stick handling and fantastic passing. - Pixote Andolini
What did his mom put in her cooking? Lead weights? He needs to get moving. |

I believe (not 100% certain) that the false "insider" known as Hockeyy Insiderr tweeted that the Flyers had interest in "Bob Ryab". "Bob" to fit the character limit in his tweet and "Ryab" a misspelling of "Ryan" (note that B and N are next to each other on a qwerty keyboard). |

No RYAB!?
As an aside, following the mis-spelled name exchange yesterday had me howlling here at work. - MunsterMike
I would trade SHAUN CORTIRUNERIR plus ANDREW MESSZOROS for BOB RYAB in a heart beat. And in a 1st round SELCETIOON too. |

If Jake and G start playing like they should be, the goals will start piling up. The rest of the forwards (outside of Schenn) seem to be at a playing level that would allow them to start finishing more if they could get the playmaking abilities of G and Jake to help them. |

LOL Alexandre Daigle.
My favorite memory of him as a Flyer was when he ended a game against the Pens in OT and the Flyers fired Wayne Cashman immediately after the game. |

The worst part of all is that some people would actually be ok with some of these trades (nobody on here though). |

rare example where the D panned out better than the F in the top-end of the draft.
that being said, it's not like the whalers got a ton out of pronger. |

I posted this on a Flyers thread at the time of the trade. As a Leafs fan I was sad to see Schenn go. Leafs fans were overly critical on their 'analysis' of Schenns play. He had a rough season but his flaws were overstated.

Watch that play and tell me Schenn has poor mobility. His 'foot speed' concerns are very overblown. His acceleration is lacking but overall he's fairly mobile for a big man. Schenn since he came into the league has had a good year followed by bad followed by good.
The issue I had with Schenn last year was 100% decision making. When he lost his confidence he made bad decisions with the puck. Hesitated on plays making him look very slow.
When Schenn is playing confident he's positionally sound and is capable of make smart short passes. Pair him with a good two way defender who can dish the puck and you have yourself a great pairing.
As for JVR were all aware of his drawbacks however I think a change of scenery was good for both. JVR has all the tools to be a consistent 30 goal man if not a 40 someday. I like his play so far, understanding hell like never be truly consistent but if he can be that 30+ goal guy then great trade all around. - Blazed
You're completely spot on with this. It took me all of a couple games to know that Luke Schenn's mobility issues were vastly overblown. The problem is that many see a defenseman get beat, and simply chalk it up to footspeed. He does not have the speed to catch up to a player, once he's beat. So the key for him is his anticipation, and positioning. And decision making. It's just lazy to blame foot speed instead of seeing the real issues. And you also hit the nait on the head on how confidence breeds indecision on a young player. Were seeing that with numerous young players on the Flyers. Excellent analysis. |

was the same thing with d hatcher throughout his career. no, not a terrific skater, but relied on his hockey sense and size to overcome it. when he did get beat, it looked ugly, but didn't take away from the majority of the times where he made the right read and easily diffused a scoring chance. |

When the Whale traded Pronger, they did get Brendan Shanahan in return.
Not a bad deal. |

Ha, questionable suspensions? Sorry I forgot because schenn is young and thinks he's tough he jumps off his feet every hit but sure, who cares about concussions right? |

What they need to do (aside from firing DEE SNIDER) is find a team that will take NICKELS DISGUSTINGMANNN. He is too SLOW and not FAST. Reminds me of JOEY SHELY but as a DEFENSEINGMAN. |

The NHL doesn't. I don't have an issue with Brayden Schenn getting a game. But where's the punishment for Brad Stuart, who also targeted the head of Gabe Landeskog? Unlike Schenn's hit, Stuart injured Landeskog. |

If Schenn can be like a more mobile Hatcher in his prime, then that trade will have been well worth it. |
