I guess we can start dreaming about a top 10 draft pick again.

god bless the Canadian government...

"your proposal should contain the following statement: "We hereby certify that the price quote is not in excess of the lowest price charges anyone else, including our most favoured customer, for like services."

god forbid anyone make a buck or two... we sure as poop pay enough in taxes for them to spend a bit more

Neither did Jan Bulis, Guillaume Latendresse, Mike Ribeiro. Do you want any of the above on your team OVER Tomas Plekanec?

You don't trade a 32 year old proven capable centerman when your no. 1 is 20 years old. (assuming we're talking 2 years down the road) for a MAYBE capable top-6... whether he's gotten a fair chance or not.

- kev1586

Right now, the number 1 is Desharnais. Galchenyuk can stay at 3C, with Eller replacing Pleks as 2C in the meantime. The Canadiens are not a contender this season, and probably won't be next season, so trading away Pleks won't hurt the team's Cup chances.

This team is not really good, anyway you look at it. Might as well finish low to get a high draft pick then to finish 9th .

Didn't they change the rules so every team that's out of the playoffs gets a shot at the #1 spot? Or something like that...

But you still get more balls if you finish last then 9th. The only rule they removed is the one where you couldn't move more then 4 place up.

Yeah but the 15th place team gets a 0.5% chance at the 1st overall pick. The only change is that if you win the lottery, you go straight to 1st overall instead of going up a maximum of 4 spots.

That's not my point. If you assume that Galchenyuk takes over as number 1 center is 2 years time, then why do Eller OR DD warrant "giving a shot" as you say on line #2? Plekanec is proven, is a bargain at 5M, scores on the PP, wins 50% of his draws, is one of the better PKers in the league, and we already know what he is. It's not a maybe. The idea that we'll get more for him in a trade is complete non-sense. WHO CARES! We finally have a prospect that looks like he's going to be the real deal in terms of being the #1 centerman we've been asking for for 15 years. Why would we then gamble on the a maybe on the 2nd line now instead of keeping the guy we know will do the job?!

Am I the only one that is worried about having Plek and DD as our first two centers. They are both good players, but if we actually manages somehow to make the playoffs, how far could we go?

If the league really wanted to make money they'd scrap the whole lottery. All teams out of the Stanley Cup playoffs have their own for the #1 pick. Whoever wins gets the pick.
