Maybe, maybe not. I don't think setting the bar at making the playoffs, as setting it too high.
- MJL

I understand that making the playoffs gives you a chance and that anything can happen. However, there is nothing that I have seen so far that makes me think this team can get out of the 1st rd (if they even make the playoffs). They are struggling in many areas.

These problems have been evident for years now. Its just finally taken over the team.

Missed the game. had an awesome dinner and settled in for psu vs Iowa on BTN wrestling. Poor start down 16-4 at the break.

He has a right to be. I'm not one that generally blames the officiating, but that was a disgrace.
- PLindbergh31

Honestly, other then the elbow to Simmonds. If I was Laviolette, the last thing I'd be thinking about right now is the officiating. They can't control that. They need to look at things they can control, and fix those issues.

Without Simmonds and Hartnell where are the goals going to come from? I'm not seeing it. Giroux is really struggling, and there really isn't a legit goal scorer in this lineup now. No one that has ever done it with any consistency.

This team really is in big trouble. I'm not giving up on the season, but I don't see any signs anything is going to change anytime soon as currently built. I believe a loss tomorrow and we will see something happen Sunday.

I think we see something go down soon. Maybe a coaching change, maybe a trade...There's no signs of things changing and guys are dropping like flies.

I'm sure hes trying to fix the issues. He's playing with a shorthanded roster. It's likely going to cost him his job.

WOW! I can't believe the crap I am reading on this blog. A team of youngsters with their top two power forwards out due to injury and hey, everyone sucks and everyone should be traded.

Ummmmm, honestly people, did you not expect growing pains with a young team?

The only thing we absolutely know won't happen in the next couple weeks is the Flyers acquiring Shea Weber. Such a sad thought

I'm more inclined to a major, major trade. No one can score. We have a lot of grinders along the wall, but who has the skill to match with G? Briere and that is about it. Voracek has been a major disappointment. I think they take a run at acquiring Perry. Pretty hard to win games when you can only score 1 or 2 goals a game.

If this team decides to completely switch the direction. Go from offensive to defensive. Things really wont get better overnight.

They are not built for that kind of play. Havent been ever since Holmgren took over.

Yep. Unfortunately it will probably be Laviolette who pays the price. I don't think it will be deserved. I don't think he was given a great roster to begin with, and key players are going down almost every night.

In all honesty, I think I would keep Laviolette and re-assign Holmgren.

in hindsight, trading couts+schenn would have been the answer

I expect a better effort. Right now this team is just coasting and playing like crap.

It is going to be tough to make a major trade now. Flyers would have to overpay. Teams will wait til closer to the deadline before deciding if they are sellers IMO

Evaluate in the summer unless you can get a fair deal now.

Ive been beating the drum since day one. The partial lockout made me kind of numb to the season anyway. I'm riding a plane that is going down but I have a parachute.

I wish you were right.. I think its deeper

At least you're not the only ones to get screwed by the stripes tonight, keep your eyes out for the Backes major call. Brutal.
