Columbus has tried that for several years. Hasn't panned out yet.

Their problem was they hired a freemium psychic. He'll give them the first half of the reading, "Trade for Jeff Carter, it's totally going to work out..."
They didn't pay for the second half, "...for the LA Kings." |

Well, they're a team that DOES keep all options on the table (as demonstrated by literally trading their franchise pillars within half an hour of each other), so I really don't get the complaint. If anything you should be satisfied with them on that front. When you're a team that explores all options and pursues players aggressively, you're necessarily making yourself vulnerable to face-explode scenarios. The only way they can be super-aggressive and avoid that is to hire a legitimate psychic as their GM.
What the Flyers have really not explored is extended patience with any one approach. - BulliesPhan87
I'm complaining about a lack of championships. You're preaching to the chior on the other things. I liked the Carter and Richards trades. My statement on keeping everything on the table should be viewed in the context of the current team. Based on a lot of comments I see, many seem to think that the problems are more of a result of growing pains and injuries and things will get better. I'm not so sure. Things get easily twisted... a statement about keeping everything on the table gets interpreted into wanting to trade Claude. |

I hear you. Flyers have had very good teams in the last 25-30 years. In order to win a Cup two things are paramount. A team has to stay relatively healthy, and they must have a quality/hot goaltender. Flyers haven't had either for the most part. Hextall played out of his mind in 87' but Flyers were ravaged by injuries, and they were playing a team with what 7 or 8 HOFers. |

Well, I think aggressive trades won't exorcise the troubles that stem from player development and injury woes. Done sparingly, it can alleviate some of the trouble, but when you use these trades as the solution so often you're running a hockey asset deficit that hurts you in the long run.
You know what happens when you really bust your load all at once to jump into competitor status?
As for misinterpretation, I know exactly what you meant. But if the only truly untouchable player is Giroux, and you suggest no players should be untouchable, it only follows to presume the point is that Giroux should actively be in trade discussions. At this point, including him in trade talk can only result in two things:
1) A Richards/Carter type trade that turns the clock back on being a competitor in exchange for what is hopefully a greater amount of talent in the long run, or
B) A lateral move at best, a deficit trade at worst, that may solve one need but rip a new one wide open
In conclusion, in and of itself I totally agree the lack of a Cup is (frank)ing aggravating. But I'm one of those fans who sees injury troubles and development struggles, and doesn't see a kne-jerk trade as a solution. Desiring patience does not imply satisfaction with mediocrity. |

That team was great. I was at those games. We took one of the greatest teams of all time to 7 games. Think how things have changed... pre-game coverage consisted of 1 hour radio call-in show with Gene Hart. |

Was incredible what that team did. The 87' Oilers were a juggernaut. Flyers won that series 3 games to 4 in my book. |

My guess is that most trade talks result in nothing. So having Claude on the table and entertaining offers is different than shoping him. Did you mean "farking aggravating"? |

Those Flyers teams from the '80's were so much fun. They deserved a better fate. |

Schenn helps this team more than JVR would. Schenn's played really well. - NickTheKid87
Luke Schenn was a good calculated risk and acquisition. I think Homer's mistake was letting Jagr go. Jagr's presence inspired this team. Even Vets like Hartnel went all gooey and got fired up to play next to an NHL Great like that. This is still a very good team, but they have have to get focused. Jagr brought morale that was worth way more than his minutes or goals. |

I'd prefer him over Lubomir Vishnovsky. I like Streit. He's a really capable QB for the powerplay. |

I like him too, I would just prefer the Flyers look for someone younger. The Flyers seem to enjoy the over 35 d-man on the downside of their career.

Yep. Team who claimed a guy off waivers to play with the reigning MVP is gonna chirp line combos?
I remember good, funny trolls that made a (frank)ing ounce of sense. Weak sauce, son. Weak. - Jsaquella
I'm not a team, nor did I claim anyone, nor am I a troll, nor am I trying to be funny, nor am I your son. I was just pointing out that I did not like the line combos tonight. You, sir, are down right rude. |
