Brennan was much more of a project when he was drafted. He's come around nicely and in the right situation could really help. Our PP is terrible, so having a guy with his skills can help. I think in order for him to make the jump though, they need to just deal with the mistakes and growing pains. It's the only way he's going to learn. He's obviously gotten the AHL level down, so the next step is to take the good with the bad and let him learn from it.

I am not doubting that Brennan is a talent.. but if I have to chose between them... and look at what Buffalo needs in their back end right now...

I take McNabbevery day and twice on Sundays.

...by necessity, you mean.
- mes418

He actually has 2 points this season in 2 games...

He is one of only 3 sabres who are at 1 PPG or better this season...

I am starting to like the idea of putting him with Weber...

Weber doesn't join the rush and is a "stay at home d-man" by nature... Sekera is known to join the rush and get down in the zone instead of staying high.

I miss the days of seeing Myers come down to the inside of the face off circle or knocking in rebound attempts..

- JVince11

Normally, I'd agree with you. But him and Sekera really looked good together last year. Sekera is pretty good about knowing when he can jump in and when he can't. He tends to stay back a bit more than Myers does, so I think the two of them could feed off each other.

The Leo pickup was like, hey this guys available, we've heard of him, he's played on a few decent teams and has some offensive side too. Lets add him for depth.

In Regehr's we flew a private jet to sway him to move his NTC and pay him a contract another team drew up.

- Buffalo--Sabres

I was referring to Rivet and Regehr.

The way I look at this team for next season...

Vanek - Hodge - Pommer
Foligno - Grigo - ??
Ott - ?? - ??
?? - McM - Kaleta

Ehrhoff - Sekera
Myers - Weber
McNabb - Pysyk (maybe?)
Brennan

-I think that Leino is bought out.
-McCormick is iffy to be here or not at 1.2M and he is missing because of a finger injury.
-Gerbe is just too small, overpaid at 1.5M, and now ineffective as a sparkplug. Waived.
-I would love ot have Sulzer back for depth but I think someone will throw more money at him than we will after this year.

Stafford/Ennis I can see both being traded this deadline or this summer.

Maybe Armia/Flynn/Adam have a chance?? I wouldn't mind Porter as our 4C.

I remember wanting him to be called up much earlier than they did. I wanted very much to see him succeed. That faded quickly once he got his chance. I hope he can find his NHL game, truly.

Only took until his 6th year in his contract. I can't bash the guy. He's been unreal
- sbroads24

By the way, in the past 6 years he has had the most points of any Sabre during that time. Not to mention he is now on one of the top ten scorers in Buffalo History. Not bad for "underperforming" a contract he didn't ask for and being "insert negative opinion here".

It only took until the 6th year...sheesh.

Weber's biggest criticism was that he took himself out of the play too often in order to make a hit... and that he took too many chances for physicality.

I haven't "studied" game tape.. but he seems to be doing quite well at correcting both of those.

In addition to the fact that besides Regehr.. Weber averages the most PK time on the entire defense.

My only hope is that he stays healthy... he got taken out in both the Boston and Philly playoff series..

We only have one scoring line right now.. so I hope he can keep scoring like this against the other team's best d corps.. he surprisingly only has 3 PP Gs too which is what a lot of people try to say is that a good majority of his goals are on PP.

at 7.85M that can be devastating to swallow... in Nashville's cap it works but that hit on any other team like Buffalo.. would just be devastating.

If Weber keeps playing the way he has the past 2 games it will be tough to take him out of the lineup.

We can dream can't we.... Benn = not a chance in blue h3ll...

Clowe.. I would love to sign him.. but he is essentially a slightly better Steve Ott... I don't know if he has enough offense to him to allow grigo to progress with Foligno on his other wing... Plus he makes 4M this season.. that means in UFA pool he could be making 5M next year easily...

We can dream for a Perry or Iginla in that role but he will be bid on by every team...

I kind of like Brendan Morrow.. grit.. experience.. and scoring.. injury problems are a concern..

I like Vinny Prospal, Michael Ryder, or Valtteri Filppula for the second line..

Maybe even Drew Miller for the 3rd or 4th line... Jerrod Smithson is a VERY good faceoff guy for the 4th line.

Guys like Stephan Weiss, Matt Cullen, Kyle Wellwood, or even Philippe Dupuis for the 3rd line would look awfully nice.

that is kind of my point.. Nashville only has Rinne's large contract... we have guys like Myers, Ehrhoff, Pommer, Miller, and Vanek that we are balancing..

Poor Vanek got over paid and it's not his fault. I'm sure he offered to give some back too when he had 3 seasons with under 30 goals. Dude you defend Vanek like I do Myers chill out. Vanek is a monster right now, we are all enjoying it. No one should be rooting for players to fail like you do Myers, you sound like a child. He has not lived up to his 40 goal seasons just like Myers has not lived up to his Calder trophy year. Difference is Vanek is 28 and Myers is 22. I could care less what place he is scoring wise we have yet to come close to the ECF since Breire and Drury has left and Vanek and Pominville have had to be the "guys".

Brennan, Sulzer, Pardy, Leopold, or Regehr...
