How can they afford not to move him?
They aren't good enough to compete
They are in terrible cap trouble after this year
Their best bet is to trade the assets they have a do a total re-build - jdfitz77
To be fair, they gave all their best assets NMC/NTC. They (frank)ed themselves really.

That's true
And it'll probably make it more difficult for them,
But I'd think most of those guys would agree to waive so they can have a shot at a contender
I think Anaheim should be thinking the same way if they can't extend Perry and Getzlaf before the deadline
This shouldn't be a shocker, he's been slowing fading since winning the Calder. Good thing he still gets to play with Vanek, or his +/- would be near the bottom of the league.

U mean to say some players careers go down after they win the calder?
The Sabres won their Stanley Cup last night. Congrats. As far as Thornton getting his ass beat by Scott; it happens. If you never lose a fight in the NHL, than you are fighting the wrong guys.
It will be interesting to see if the next time the Bruins and Sabres meet the score gets out of hand and the Bruins are able to sacrifice Chara, arguably a hall of famer, to fight Scott, arguably hasn't yet learned to skate backwards. Judging by how Chara handled Koci a few seasons ago it would be a pretty good scrap. Scott obviously has the weight advantage, but reach and overall conditioning go to Chara.
Congrats to the Sabres on the win. It was a fun game to watch even if my team lost. I do have a feeling the Bruins will come out next game against the Sabres swinging. Let's hope my NHL Gamecenter Live app doesn't lag like it did this game.

Because Vanek is such a +/- monster? - Rally_Shots
Don't encourage him. For some reason he his rooting for Sabres players to fail. Ryan Suter is a -6 right now. I wonder if he is getting run out of town because of his contract

I know that Thornton will be out, but will Marchands lacerated vagina be healed by then?

Only took until his 6th year in his contract. I can't bash the guy. He's been unreal - sbroads24
He has been. It's amazing what he can do when he's actually moving around and allowed to be creative, instead of getting flogged in front of the net as if he's the next Dave Andreychuk.
