Zibanejad was a 6th pick to MPS's 9th, and he's playing on the fourth line with scrubs and put up a point per game in both games while playing solid defense.

Truth is MPS is not what he was projected to be. The oilers are not exactly stacked in the bottom 6, if he deserved a spot he'd get one and they'd waive some clown like Eager or Belanger. He didn't outplay these guys, how good can he be?

It's been 3 seasons, and he's done nothing.

Have you been following his career path in the last two years? Mainly in the AHL? Because the Barons have been playing him in a checking role for the last year and a half. I think he is STARTING to excel in that role. He is by no means a comparable player to Eager (functional toughness 240+pounds) or Belanger a guy that makes his bread and butter as a face off taking C. As well the Oilers sent MPS down as a way to comply with the 23 man NHL roster limit. They needed a C so MPS on a two way was the only option without exposing themselves to losing a player. But you probably already knew that??

I hope MPS develops beyond his current state but after 3 years who knows?
He may need a change of scenery.
How attached to him am I as an Oil fan ?
I probably would have traded him for Fistric.

Paajarvi got sent down because Horcoff got hurt and they needed a center call up and Paajarvi was the only one who wouldnt be required to clear waivers.

Do you ever bother doing research?

Check the post I was quoting it was referring to the last few years. In which case it would be 30th, 30th, and 29th best in the NHL.

Come on we Oilers fans need to start living in the present. I was just giving you a hard time on the standings. Its not often we can say we are top 10 instead of bottom 2. Like I said in another post, He has had plenty of opportunity on the top 2 lines. His play has put him on lines 3 and 4 today. Like him a lot, but the team is not going to give him 3-4-5 games to show what he can do. With a shortened season he would need to produce results quickly and consistently to bump ... say Hemsky... I think we defintely need a shakeup on the 2nd line. Their just doesn't seem to be any chemistry there 5-5. I would give him a shot for a game and see what he can do. Move Hemmer down to play with Smytty and Horcoff....

Question ... if he had four goals and eight points, would he have been sent down? Yes or no. Think about your answer before posting it.

Only other person who they might have considered sending down was Harti. Harti outplayed PRV up to this point so deserved the spot. As PRV did NOT get 8 points your question is retarded.

No, its not retarded. It's utterly ridiculous to say he got sent down because of Horcoff's injury. My question basically was, if he was playing good and was productive, would he have been sent down? If your story was valid (because Horcoff's injury), the answer would have been yes. Remember, he has 0 points in six games and is a -3. Keep fooling yourself on the reason he was sent down.

Wth everyone else waver eligble, who else would have gone down, since there are zero other centers on the roster?

If he had been playing better then Harti then Harti would have been sent down. Is that better? Not sure where Yakupov would go if they tried sending him down. Schultz is clearly out of the question as he has been our best D. Even if he did get 8 points no way they send down any of Nuge/Eberle/Hall. Think everyone else would be put on waivers and really not worth risking losing any of them as we kind of NEED them.

Hes been doing very good in the checking role theyve developed him into actually. I assume you realize how nonsensical it is to speak of +/-, and as I doubt youve watched his play closely this season, this conversation isnt likely to go much of anywhere. Appreciate your insight into Oilers management decisions though. Ty.

No thanks. We don't want a head case or another Euro and we don't draft well. This deal stinks.
