I talked about it earlier today when asked with the injuries, how they were going to score goals. I said by working hard, going to the net, and getting the puck to the net. That resulted in 2 goals. Unfortunately, their defensive coverage was poor, and they continue to have turnover issues.

I always say expecting a goalie to save a breakaway is like expecting a ballplayer to get a hit.

Pitching beats good hitters 7/10 times. Good pitching beats good hitting 8 or 9/10 times.

Elite goal scorers beat goalies on breakaways 9/10 times. Elite goal scorers beat elite goalies 7/10. Sort of arbitrary numbers, but the point is still made.

I loved the way the came out in the first.
They were dominating the Canes, beating them to all the pucks, and making quick accurate passes.

The turnovers are a problem, and the Canes took advantage.

The Flyers D seem to be pinching effectively and keeping the puck in the zone, but one bad pinch could burn them.

I'm happy to see them skating and working.
Overall a good period, despite the 2 Canes goals.

On the first goal all Bryz needed to do was leave the puck or play it behind the net. He threw it up the wall to where 2 Canes were.

Play started with Coburn's shot getting blocked.

I don't disagree with what you say about B Schenn's back check, but Bryz's play and Coburn's failure to get it deep to me were the two biggest culprits.
