This article is condescending for a lot of reasons.
The deal is as easy as it occurring to Paul Holmgren to make the call to Alberta. What prestige to even have the chance to obtain some Flyers. It worked out well for LA, after all.
There seems to be the notion that when Paul Holmgren appears on Jay Feaster's caller ID, Jay tells the room to be on their best behavior. Congratulating Paul on all his success, Jay extends every courtesy in hopes that Paul would offer a large salary dump and B prospect for his captain. In fact, if I remember correctly what has happened on this site, the only reason Calgary acquired JayBo is so that they could offer Iginla and he to the Flyers together.
Bobby Ryan, hey, any old time Paul wanted he could have traded for him. Several other deals were in fact cancelled because Paul wasn't sure or not if he still wanted Bobby. The Ducks are still on standby as we speak. The Ducks have 6 wins and Philly has 6 points. If only Bob Murray had doused Paul Holmgren in flattery when he had apparently so many chances...
In no way is it impossible to exaggerate what Calgary fans expect in return for their Captain. It's only Jerome Iginla. He can be classified only as "a nice addition", and probably is still pretty good.
As far as Iggy himself, well, to become a Flyer cements a legacy of excellence and integrity. What no trade clause? Get the number to the premium car service provider and book a trip to the airport on the ASAP.

Great, throw another great prospect away for an over the hill aging vet. With all the first and second draft picks they gave away for players in the last seven years, they probably wouldn't be in this position. Did any one of these players they traded for win them a cup? I want them to win as bad as anybody but if the downside is a shot at Seth Jones, then i'm keeping my number one pick and the only legitament prospect in ther entire system. |

That's probably the biggest stretch complaint so far. Stick with Tim you have no idea what you're saying.

Honest question:
What are a Flyers fan's thoughts on the late punch Rinaldo dropped on Crombeen last night? |

Judging by Lecavaliers fight, he missed the opportunity to throw two more haymakers and shatter Crombeens face.

Crombeen was asking for that after his hit on Giroux.

You look at the roster, you think on paper, they shouldn't be bad. They should be in the play-offs. Watch them play collectively and you understand why they aren't. Calgary screams a rebuild. It has no farm system at all - little talent. It really doesn't have much young talent up in the league. It's mostly a collection of vets with a sprinkle of youngsters.
If they rebuild and they decide to trade assets that can fetch young players, prospect or picks, the rebuild wouldn't take a long unless Feaster keeps drafting third round talent in the first round. Iginla, Glencross, Stempy, JayBo, Kipper, Tanguay and Giordano could bring back quite a bit. - Oneonta Penguin
You don't need to trade all those guys. Giordano and Glencross I would keep personally |

Or, the Flyers could have got Salo and never traded JVR for the embodiment of a bag of pucks.
Fail, fail, how about, Holmgren is fail? |

You are.
His performance results in a bag of pucks for the opposition.
The sooner any defender of his realizes this (ie...Holmgren) the better.
He is just awful. I would trade Chris Butler for him, to fill out the 5/6 pos for him, and that's about it. |
