Are any posters here involved with careers that charge by the billable hour?
If so, how do you allocate your HB time?

When I was starting out, I had a really cool boss who wanted to reward me for high billable hours. So he used his own frequent flier miles to fly me to Tampa where we proceeded to donate to the college funds of young local coeds, one dollar at a time. At one point while we were each "donating" u leaned over and asked him what the time sheet code was for Girly Bar expense. His response...44DD. Classic. |

I've been fed up w/ homer the last couple of yrs. there seems to be no consistent plan, just a reboot when they run out of patience. I believe they rush their young plyrs and I prob lost faith in him when he re-signed leighton. to this day, ill never understand that and bringing him back this yr. this org does so many things well, but the d & goalie thing are a thorn in its side. trading draft picks and missing out on the ones you keep is lethal. all it takes is one Karlsson or OEL to change things, but this org has paid a pretty dear price for not getting the homegrown G or dman right. homer ought to held into account for this shortcoming.
I think bryz is a guy who is going to be ~ .920% goalie fairly consistently, but his last few plyoff performances are underwhelming. glad you're unboggled about a buyout possibility.
maybe, in order to win arguments, you ascribe motives or meanings that are pure fabrication or that are so blinkered...I think you know what's true and what's not. a classic example is the part about mez and me predicting he would get hurt- you're "asking me again", lol. that's a silly joke they call a straw man argument. you use it often whether you know it or not. and the part of how you form opinions in supposed contrast to me or anyone else is another example of outright silliness.
just for clarity, my concern at the outset of last yr was that prongers performance would noticeably slip due to wear and tear, kimmo the same - which it has- and the loss of either coby or carle, which happened. given our lack of top flight replacements and given the bounty arriving forwards, i wanted to move schenn or jvr - but really schenn- for bogo, pk, mcbain, et al. the rationale was that we were stocked down the middle and that schenn was still highly valued...prob not as high right now. i didnt want to gamble on a FA...to iffy. is this such a tough concept to grasp? I know it's history, but if you're willing to criticize someone who makes a projection, you should give him a sliver of credit if he's right. i can take the ribbing if im wrong, can you? nope, just slings, arrows and straw man arguments. good show.

So now you're bringing Leighton into it, and calling my points a straw man argument. And you're stating players that you want to acquire, that haven't been traded, and are still with the teams they were drafted by. I didn't realize we were playing fantasy Hockey. I thought we were dealing in the real world. So instead of gambling on Free Agency, because it's too iffy. Your plan is to trade for players that haven't been traded, and you don't even know if they're available.
Never once said that a buyout of any player isn't a possibility. Do you think the Flyers are thinking that way right now with Brygalov's current level of play. That ends that discussion as far as I'm concerned. To be re-evaluated at a later time. Which is exactly what the Flyers are going to do. And that's how GM's build teams. Not with hindsight and revisionist history. But by evaluating going forward.
And as far as Holmgren being held accountable for the shortcoming of the team. I'd like to know what team that has won the Cup, hasn't had to go into Free Agency, or make trades, to bolster the lineup. What GM has drafted so perfectly, and developed those players, that they didn't have to bring in any players from outside the Organization, to add to the lineup? |

On the flip side, it's difficult not to gush over the skill set that Couturier possesses. Could be a 1a/1b situation in a year or two with Giroux, where Couturier takes all the tough minutes, leaving Claude to focus on scoring 150 goals a season. - bradleyc4
Is this the same dream where Tye McGinn becomes John LeClair? And Matt Read becomes Brian Propp? I love that dream...

While normally I dismiss your posts as a vain attempt at humor, kind of like most people do with Dane Cook or Frank Caliendo, I do admire your ability to cherry pick and quote "Fletch"

They were paying Darroll Powe over $1mm a year.
Actually I'm guessing that they wanted more veteran experience. They don't need the size, got a lot of big bodies in their bottom 6. |

I'm trying to figure out, are most pro or anti Yandle? I think he would be a fine addition. Younger then Carle and has put up better offensive number with less talent (lower cap hit and less years). Is a true #1 d-man? Probably not, but so wasn't Suter. He would probably put up better numbers here. Plus, if the concern is defense, we have 3 guys already in the top 6 who could eat a lot of PK and defensive zone draw time (Coburn, Grossman, and Schenn).
I would make a push to acquire Yandle. You have to figure with the ownership issues, coupled with the fact OEL is going to be a RFA and probably want a raise, Yande can be traded. "Yes" I would trade one of the young centers (not G) to get him. |

I'm fine with adding Yandle, assuming the cost is fair. I wouldn't be willing to trade Couturier for him, but I'd be open to a deal built around a Yandle for B. Schenn or Voracek exchange. |
