i hope things aren't that destitute that we'd be selling guys like kimmo...then again, he has a NMC i think, so... - isaiah520
If we we're out of the playoff hunt I think he'd take the opportunity to play on a contender. He can always re-sign with us too. If it's deciding on maybe your last chance at the Cup or staying a Flyer for an extra month I think the choice is easy.
Hopefully things aren't nearly that bad though. |

Holmgren said today Simmonds was still having concussion symptoms and would be re-evaluated tomorrow. With concussions you never know. I think he will be out a while, he took a shot square on the nose, then smacked his head on the ice very hard.
Erskine knocks Simmonds senseless, and he misses two games vs. Pittsburgh. The rules to these suspensions are pretty comical. - PLindbergh31
simmonds got 28 goals last yr by mainly collecting garbage, deflections and other assorted opps w/in 5-10 ft of the net...and he doesn't have a great shot like knuble. he's been much more than i thought he would be. |

Holmgren said today Gustafsson, although he's playing isn't very close to being NHL game ready. I like Gusty he can be a serviceable third pairing guy. - PLindbergh31

No question. They could use another puck moving defenseman. |

28 goals for Simmonds will probably be the exception, and not the norm. But he's a very good player. Uses his size well, pretty good hands, great around the net, and a tough SOB who will stick up for his teammates. Like Simmonds a lot. |

Definitely. Rags are bringing him in to kill penalties. If he's in the box constantly kind of defeats the purpose.
This is a good trade for the Flyers, Powe will be nicer to Shelley than Rupp was. - PLindbergh31
Powe will pot 3 SHG against us......you know it's true......book it |

I'd like to see some stability in that pairing by the start of next season.
The Flyers try these guys out, and at seasons end they are always back lane trash. |

They desperately need that top pairing stud. No clue how, or if they will be able to get one.
Haven't had a 25 or under legit #1 guy in franchise history. |

When I heard about that trade today, I immediately envisioned Powe getting a GWG against the Flyers this year. |

Been debating the idea of the team moving up to draft Jones for a while now.
Wonder what it would take. |

I hear he lost a chess match to Sestito.
Best we can hope for now is something comparable to an Ewok. |

Not many defenseman in the history of the League are legit #1 defenseman at 25 years of age or under.

Good question. Depends on what pick the Flyers had. If they had a top 10 pick of there own to add to the deal, it might be something that could work.
Say the Flyers had the 7th pick in the upcoming draft, if you added B Schenn to that, would that be good enough to get them up into the top 3? |

Gustafsson is the most underrated defenseman in the Flyers system. The kid is going to be a stud. Once he blossoms its going to be a beautiful thing. |

Really? In the history of the League? I count Doughty, Karlsson, and Pieterangelo as three playing right now.
And OEL will be by the time he's 25. |

And how many total defenseman are playing right now? In relation to how many defenseman there are now, and have played throughout the history of the League, not many. In other words those players don't grow on trees.

The cost to land on is so high it's not worth it to ruin other areas for so long that it'd be pointless to trade for one.
This is something they'll have to draft & develop...........Had Couturier not slipped they'd have Dougie Hamilton now of the Bruins |
