Yes. The idea that goalies are allowed to come out onto the white ice and totally own that space is absurd. I'm not advocating running them over, but they should expect some incidental contact.
At the very least, they need to standardize the rules formally and introduce some kind of challenge/review system.
In the NFL, every TD is reviewed. I don't see why you can't take 30 seconds to get the call right if you're going to wave off something as important as a goal. |

Not necessarily looser but they do need to review EVERY goalie interference call that disallows a goal on the ice. The fact that that's not reviewable is a joke. |

at the very least it should be challengable.
contact outside of the crease should be okay, if the goalie ventures out of the blue he should do so at his own risk
contact in the blue paint: penalty
outside of it: fair game |

Already this season, there have been at least two disallowed goals that were flat out botched calls in terms of goalie interference. The latest one was a disallowed Ottawa goal against Montreal in which Jakob Silfverberg was actually sent to the penalty box for goalie inteference in addition to the goal being washed out.

Please add Rask's Saturday night swan dive to the list.

I'd go for Standardization..came call every time. Niemi was clobbered the other night in a game against Anaheim and they allowed the goal anyway. Another night, another team and you get a much different result.. |

The solution is easy. Make the crease 1 ft bigger. Then if any player goes into the crease and makes contact, it's an automatic interference penalty.
If the goalie decides to come out of his crease to cut down the angles, and a player bumps him (not runs him over, but just bumps him), then it's not interference and any goal would stand.
Obviously, a player can go into the crease after a loose puck. Also, if a player is in the crease, it's not an automatic disallowed goal - only if he touches the goalie would it be interference.
This way, it could be easily reviewable.
1. Was the player in the crease before the puck? If no, then it's a goal. If yes then:
2. Did the player make contact with the goalie? If no, it's a goal. If yes, no goal.
Pretty simple IMO. |

Agreed. NHL refs can do no wrong, and answer to no one apparently. |

Way to many goalie turned annalist's moaning and whining about goalie interference you want to come out of your crease expect contact. I'm not say they need to get drilled but if you want to take more ice than your given you should have to fight for it like the rest of the players on the ice. BTW Kevin Weeks, Kelly Hrudey and Glenn Healy need to_______. |

thanks to regina miller and the sabres hissy fit from last year, the nhl has gone overboard with the goalie interference.
proof in point was ian walsh channeling don van massengill and waiving off two goals saturday night. on the second one, that gutless midget didn't bother blowing the whistle when reimer tripped marchand and waits for the goal 5 seconds later to waive it off.
