I don't think we have the assets needed to change this lineup for the better.
I think we are more or less stuck with this lineup. I don't think schenn would bring that much of a return if you were to trade him. Him alone wouldn't get you a #1 dman.
Keep the team intact. Keep the draft picks. Suck all year and pick 1st overall.

why hasnt danny syrvet been in the discussion of call ups? - Flyers4Life88
Not an NHL defenseman. |

Does anyone have any thoughts/feelings/opinions on young defensemen the Flyers might be interested in acquiring? |

I don't doubt the kids talent. But he has done nothing at the NHL level to suggest that he is better the Timonen is any aspect of the game. He can't even crack Phoenix's lineup right now. - MJL
I take back the Timmonen comment as I got a little exhuberant. I have watched Rundlbad dominate in SEL and on the pp in Portland AHL. Just saying his talent level is off the charts, check him out on youtube. His skills are undeniable. I would jump at him and just use him primarily on the pp until his D is up to par. He needs to be paired with a Coburn or a stay at home guy.
I totally admire Kimmo and he is a heart and soul guy that is tough as nails for his size and has had one heck of a career. |

Like a Runaway named Rundblad,
MJL, do you think Rundblad is worth taking a chance on? - flyerdude17
Taking a chance on? Sure, why not. What's the price?
Thinking he is going to be better the Timonen even now is not realistic. He can't even stay in the Yotes lineup right now.

That being said is a bad player a bad player regardless of where he plays. Thank you Albert. |

Naslund was not good enough in Pittsburgh, Neely was not good enough in Vancouver, nor was Rick Vaive. I name Canuck example because I live her but the names of players who got traded because they were deemed expendable are endless. |

Doesn't have much to do with Runblad. I would contact Bill Meltzer and ask his opinion. He is the leading authority around here on European players. I've only seen the kid play a few times. But I would think if how you're talking him up was the case. He'd have produced more, and would be a regular in the lineup. I'm not at all saying he won't be a good player in the future. You never know with a kid that young.

Some times guys just need a change of scenery. Look at John LeClair. He had modest success in Montreal, but was being used as a third line center when the Flyers acquired him. Coming to a new city, playing a new role and obviously getting to play with a talent like Lindros unlocked his full potential.
Conversely, there's very good players that struggled along the way-Jaromir Jagr's a good example of that. He dominated in Pittsburgh, was up and down in Washington, then very good again in NYC. |

With all due respect MJL I have never met anyone quite so negative and argumentive as you on HB. Let us give Rundblad a little time to see if he can make an impact with a new team. It is of my opinion that you get your opinions from what Bill Meltzer says, Paul Holmgren says, Peter Laviolette says and that is because I think you do not have what it takes as a hockey analyst to make those decisions on your own. Jsqualla is a guy that makes the most sense and he thinks with his own mind and really knows his stuff. I think the world of Meltzer too. Sometimes I wonder about Homer and Lavy but heh it is a tough job. |

I think a Rinaldo plus something may get it done. Rinaldo if they could minimize his zest for the sin bin is Coyote in your face hockey. I believe Rinaldo as much as I like his enthusiasm is expendable and probably would have interest from other teams. |

Yeah, plus he has a target forever painted on his back. I honestly wouldn't be opposed to moving him for a pick. I severely doubt you'd get anything higher than a late round 2nd round pick for him, if that. And yeah, he's definitely not going to be the center of any deal that brings back a D man of any value. |

I want to see him do well. I do. But his name gets mentioned almost as needlessly as Shelly's does around here. He tops out as a 3rd pairing D man. Could he help? Theoretically. But he's really not going to be solving many issues at all. |
