I'm going tonight (club box baby!) so hopefully the team's 3 game winning streak (when I go) reaches 4.

Anyone on board with pursuing a trade for ryan whitney? Healthy scratch in edmonton. He might pair well with coburn or grossman and provide us with a skater/puck mover.
Ufa after the season as well so no long term commitment

He would be a nice fit here if he can stay healthy. An easy upgrade over Foster.

Saw that last night on the NHL network.

Whitney also had the assistant "A" removed from his jersey recently. Clearly, Edmonton is unhappy with him.

Question is, does Whitney have anything left in the tank? What would Edmonton want in return? And what is his cap hit?

Not a lot of risk. Depends on the cost. For a 4th round pick, sure. Not much more.

They have won the last 3 games he has attended, this would make 4.

Whitney hasn't been able to stay healthy. And when he's been healthy enough to play, he hasn't been productive.

I could be wrong but I think the removal of the "A" has more to do with the direction Edmonton is going in, the the player himself. Just look at who the letter went to. However, yes, I am sure the oilers are done with Whitney.

Thanks for posting that link.

Flyerland's old pal Jim Vandermeer is also on that list.

Maybe a change of scenery helps Whitney? Who knows?

Ah, hadn't considered that.

The implication during the report was that Whitney's play precipitated the removal of the "A", but your explanation seems every bit as plausible.

Removing the "A" does send a message to the young guys that no one is safe. Unfortunately, at the same time, you do alienate a veteran guy when you do that. Tough to get them signed back onto the program after that.
