Man people are over reacting. Luongo is hot they are riding him. Cory will play of of the next 2, if he plays lights out he will stay there.
Let me ask you. When Lu got hurt last yr and Cory played amazing. Then Luongo returns to a seat on the bench while they ride out Schnieders hot streak. The situations are very close to the same. - Bieksa#3
Piss off with the over reacting will you? Save it for the near sighted on here... Luongo should have been moved or Schneider should have been moved. People don't want to take less for Luongo so they are content with almost 10 mil in the crease on a team that has no secondary scoring and a gaping hole down the middle? Well how much value do you think Luongo's contract will hold next year when the cap goes down if it is a problem right now? Here's the deal...if Gillis waits til next off season...HE'S ACTUALLY HOLDING OUT FOR LESS!
I can think of at least a half dozen times over the last three seasons where Cory was outplaying Lu and AV stayed with the #1. None of them involved a goalie returning from injury.
I'm sick of watching Gillis constantly bilding up on D and GT's every year but every year it's the shriveled up scorers that cost us in the playoffs... he and AV are 100% comfortable with 1 scoring line protecting 1 goal leads with dump and change all the way to elimination... it's hard to enjoy this team as I see them lost in the woods instead of any kind of plan being executed. We were going to trade our blue chip goalie prospect for a home run...but that seems to be not an option. We trade our blue chip centre prospect for yet another winger with absolutely no plan in place to replace him with anything but a player who retired 25 games later... they never replaced Ehrhoff's abilties which has been eating away at the Sedin's ability to be consistant... aside from a seldom used shooter on the blue line, the PP has taken a huge hit and hasnt been addressed... the team desperately needs hitting which was never replaced with the release of Torres... on top of it all, the drafting doesnt look like it's going to improve this team much in the future...with the exception of a couple of prospects which never can totally be depended on with our position being late so often...or Gillis trading away for 4 million dollar 5/6 dmen....
I'm just so tired of the bullpoop. People gobble it up just because Gillis calls it choco pudding.

Didn't you know playing pro gives you the right to treat people like idiots and call them down just because they didn't make the dance. Especially Vancouver fans because we are all obviously half retarded even though we have played and followed hockey our whole lives. - thundachunk
Sounds about right. There is another Oilers fan on here who claims to be the back up water boy for a tyke team in the Calgary area. He too knows all about everything. You might know him, his avatar is a D!ck Head. |

He played great in Calgary, no doubt. The SJ game wasn't on him but he wasn't great either |

If Gillis would tell us who our #1 is then we would no who to cheer for.
I have to agree with Booners rant. Gillis has made it hard to like him or AV . |

I'll be honest, I'm tired with the numeral designation that we (fans and media) heap on teams and players. Who gives a (frank) what our 1st, 2nd, or 3rd lines are. Or 1st, 2nd pairing defenseman are. Or #1 or #2 goalie.
Let's evolve!
Hansen and Raymond had about 19 minutes each last night. On most teams that would put you near 1st line minutes. Why pigeon hole players? Coaches need to determine early in a game who's hot and who's not and then ride the hots until they're spent. Sit the nots.
VANTEL and I talked once about drafting based on projected position or team need. Figure out a list of traits that you covet, find players that fit the mould, and draft that player regardless of projections. And then develop the poop out of them.
The most successful teams are ones that can assess what they have and what they want accurately. |
