I'm not a fan of Corsi personally, Rel Corsi and Crosi Rel COQare better . I agree that +/- is an overrated stat. - Nucker101
Agreed. Corsi is still a far better stat than +/-, though.

I just noticed our team is in 3 rd place . Our team hasn't really played that well.
Can you imagine ,if a super team like the Leafs had our goaltending , what place they would be in?
Thanks Lu . - VANTEL

Should actually be a fun game to watch with the way both teams are playing defence. |

When he came to play in Abbottsford he said he wanted to thank AV and staff and if they ever want him back ,just pick up the phone . Then he walked away singing Michael Jacksons "I'll Be There"

Grist for the mill...Mike Gillis will be in Newark for NJ-NYR game. And he's not trading Luongo to either team!

If we get Tavares we can trade him for Hodgson - VANTEL
And Grigorenko, then turn around and trade Superenko to Montreal for Galchenyuk. Then we can bench Hodgson for the season and at the draft, trade him to Toronto for the 1st overall pick, Reilly and Gardiner. |

The Oil just have a different type of controversy. Instead of which one of two #1's should we keep, you have a do we really have a #1? A few more 6 goal periods and you'll be relying on Khabibulin... - 1970vintage
This is very true. I'd kill to have the Canucks' goalie problem! The number three guy in Van is pretty great too, no? Lack? |

Gillis is one hell of a troll. I wonder if he's gonna call Garth Snow or Charles Wang after the game.
And Shannon lost his credibility when he said that the Luongo to Toronto deal was done during the lockout. |

No, he didn't fall down. There was minimal contact with the stick to the hands. Not enough for a penalty, IMO, let alone a PS in overtime. - Fosco
More proof that you don't have a clue...that play on the hands is almost an artform. Again, when's the last time you saw a pro hockey player on a breakaway shoot the puck into the corner? |

He got a shot off, honestly, it should have been a penalty rather than a penalty shot if anything. Penalty shots are only supposed to be awarded when a clear scoring chance is negated due to an infraction. Shot got off, no scoring chance denied. |

Yeah, he's pretty good too. I don't really believe the Oil have a controversy, just pointing out how it isn't as big a deal to the team (Canucks) as it is to the media and fans. |

Wow. You are quite the charmer.
There was contact. I didn't feel it was enough contact to warrant a PS in overtime. Mind you they'd called a few weak ones on both teams earlier in the game, so I guess it was par for the course.
Not sure what I've ever done do you to be the recipient of all these stinging barbs... |

I have no problem with the call. If we're going to accept an era where games are decided by shootouts, then ANY penalty that is committed when the offensive player has a step on the defensive player and there is nobody else between the puck and the goaltender should be a penalty shot. They should be more common & relevant within the game if they're going to be used to decide ties. |

Not.... Look at your players +/- from the last 2 years.... are you going to tell me that that is their most important stat lol... I would say they played on an AHL team so even if a player was good they would be minus over the year.
So again what is your IQ? - SMP8719
thanks....I don't have to type a lot because you just did. The guy with a solid +/- stat on a bad team shows how steady he is, how realiable he can be even when surrounded by weak players. Conversely, a player with a low +/- on a great team is complete sh1t. If you play with Crosby and Malkin and your personal +/- is poor, it shows that you can't play solid two way hockey on your own...you need the talented guys to support your game.
I can't believe I'm explaining this...actually, yeah, forgot I was on the Canucker board. lol
Seriously though, most important stat in the game in my opinion and high on the top of the list for most scouts, especially at the lower levels. |

Holy (frank). Ignorance, and name calling to boot.
Corsi and rel Corsi are far more indicative of a players offensive and defensive ability.
Seriously, wow. - Fosco
Not really. None of the mentioned stats are very indicative of much at all.

+/- can be impacted by the linemates/players a player plays with.
An example. Frank Corrado before being traded to the Kitchener Rangers was a minus 3, since traded he is a plus 12.
Frank is not playing better hockey, he is now on a better team.
You call me an idiot. +/- is widely considered only important in certain contexts by pro scouts and major hockey pundits.
Do a bit of research before you start calling names...
Seriously, wow. - Fosco
Okay, you made me say it...I played pro and did some scouting. You also proved MY point in your little tantrum above. thanks chucky |
