I hear you, Nielsen hasn't been playing well the last few but he's still IMO an excellent two way center for the third line. Not physical I hear your argument but still a very smart player. Our team as a whole isn't physical, there are other ways to address it. Just feel Nielsen should be the least of our concerns. All these waiver guys are crashing to earth(shocker, only a matter of time)when we dish these guys fill in the space with some decent, physical, bottom fwds. That's Snow job. Don't expect much. Contrary to popular belief he has to do nothing and probably will. I know it sucks to hear but reality is what it is. - Cptmjl
Nelson was a #1 pick, I would think he would or should be a top six forward... |

Okposo not even playing to a 2nd line quality. I'd throw him to 3rd line with Aucoin/Bailey (send McDonald down). Ullstrom to line 2. #isles

The Rangers are a money making machine. The Islanders are the equivalent of the Charlestown Cheifs. Low budget, little flexability. One cannot be compared to the other until the Isles are in Brooklyn - keaner17
That's a cop out. The Predators and Coyotes aren't big market, money-making machines. Yet, they each ice competitive teams year in and year out and make the playoffs year in and year out. They don't go six years without getting out of the bottom five in the league. The reason is because they are much better run organizations than the Isles are. The Coyotes arena and venue situation is worse than the Isles was and they still found a way to consistently ice a competitive team.
If the Isles were competently managed, this "rebuild" wouldn't be stuck in the mud the past few years. Its not the income and revenue that's got the rebuild bogged down in the mud. Its the competency of the folks running it. |

Hard to argue with these points. Nabby does looked gassed. This is where having Poulin as backup would have been great Some type of shake up is a must before next game. - ses111
And Poulin is not the back up because of...mismanagement. Snow and Wang won't pull the trigger on the biggest contractual mistake in league history and cut their losses so that Pouliin can be up backing up Nabby. As a result, Nabby gets gassed because he has to play every game for the team to even have a chance to win and Poulin spins his wheels in development in the "A". You can't make this s**t up... |

It's not worth flipping out over a third line player. Do not worry Frans is not going anywhere. - ses111
Im happy to hear you arent flipping out over it.

And when can we have an honest discussion about "the rebuild"? This rebuild sucks. It's dogs**t. This will be the sixth straight bottom five finish for this team. This year will be the fifth year in the last six they finish in the Atlantic basement if it happens. Where is the progress?
I'm tired of reading BS by bloggers and posters about this rebuild being on course or on pace. Who's pace? Who's course? LA, Chicago and Pittsburgh all rebuilt their teams and won championships in the amount of time the isles have undertaken this "rebuild". Yet, the isles are nowhere close to a championship or even to being a contender six seasons after starting the rebuild.
We hear about all these prospects. Lee, Nelson, strome, reinharts, mayfield, etc. do any of them have high ceilings? After all these bottom five finishes, where are all of our high end players. Hamonic and JT are all we have to show for five years of bottom five finishes?
I'm completely disenchanted with this team. They provide the same miserable product year on and year out. They repeat the same process every summer and unbelievably expect a different result. The problem with this rebuild are the fools running it. It will never get on course with the same people who have been running it the past six years. - Jethro09
I believe I've been very open and honest with my opinions regarding this rebuild. As have a few others who refuse to wear the Rose colored glasses manufactured by Wang and Company.
It's a joke.
But more and more are beginning to see the light. In the final year of Snows 5 Year Rebuilding Program. We are no closer to the Cup then we were when Snow took over.
So.....
Good job Jethro.

Poulin belongs in the A, Yes DP should be put out to pasture but Poulin cant put up a full season of playing time without getting hurt himself.
12 goalies have played as many or more games then Nabby this year already.. so NO its not DP's fault that he is playing 99% of the games.. he is playing that many games because that is what a starting goalie does & he has year in & year out played that many game for the teams he has played for.

Err...why? Nelson very well could be...hopefully will be...a top-six forward at the end of the day. Maybe he's not even an NHLer when all is said and done. Who knows? Guy's halfway into his first pro season. But with his development up to now, I don't see anything that pegs him as no better than a third liner. If anything, I'd say his trajectory, based on style of play and production, at this moment in time has him pegged as an eventual second liner. |

Well yes you are correct xXx. We are 5 YEARS CLOSER to the next cup that the Isles win!
Other than the time discrepancy. This still isnt a PO team.
Which is what a rebuild is suppose to accomplish. NO? |

Because to assume just because a player is drafted in the 1st round is a top 6 player.. is the wrong assumption.

Eventually, Poulin or Nilsson has to graduate to the NHL to continue their development. My point is that if either is ready to do that, they can't because RDP is taking their spot. It is a poor decision to keep RDP on the roster and not give a pathway to the NHL to your top two goaltending prospects. And because Poulin and Nilsson are in the "A", the Isles can't even bring Koskinen over from Europe to play in the "A". Its a snowball effect. |

In the end, YES.... But we are moving closer to that end. We have NHL talent on the team, we have blue chip prospects in the system... we are much closer then we were 5 years ago.
