He was also injured not too long before the lockout ended. Maybe that is playing a part. It seems like a confidence thing. He's a big, talented dude with some agility. He looks like a defenseman who should be able to impose his will out there. It frustrating when it doesn't happen.
I agree that booing a 22 yr old every time he has the puck is ignorant. I heard a lot of stupid garbage being yelled at last nights game. More than usual, and not from Habs fans. - keptupl8
He sprained that ankle on December 11th... reported to Buffalo for Peter's practices on January 11th.. Season started January 20th.
Ankles take a long time to heal. |

Chicken Ott turtled...
He helped the Sabres to win it but still turtled... - DrDoom
He bought that goal though didn't he.
He would have dropped them in a minute with White (or whatever his name is) if it was earlier in the game or if Buffalo had a big lead (or was down 3 goals).
Ott's not a p ussy, he did his job. |

Could you imagine if he played for the Habs, Leafs, Canucks, Flyers? Fans love a scapegoat. I'm indifferent about crowd noise. I love when it's loud but for myself, I just like to sit and focus on watching the players and the game. I could go to a game and not say one word, does that make me an unpassionate fan? - buffalokb
Well IMO it starts with the media. The Media in MTL, TOR etc know the sport they are talking about a lot more than WGR. The media will feed a lot of the low-information fans a bunch of opinions that aren't based on facts and that are said by people who have never played the game in their lives. The fans hear the media complain about Myers (they have every right to) or Miller, and they never let up. They never go out of their way to compliment these guys, they did this with Pominville forever. So the everyday fan becomes enamored with pointing out this players flaws until it almost becomes a running joke. Our media and fan base are more irrational than in other cities who have seen championships. This city is desperate and they want to place blame everywhere when it doesn't happen, some of the blame is fair, a lot of it is not |

Gems from "passionate" fans last night:
"They need to get Myers off this top line."
"What the hell? I can't believe we're getting a penalty for that..." (It was an icing call.)
"Get off your knees, you're blowing the game!" (That was right before they dropped the puck after the icing.)
"C'mon Hodgie, c'mon Hodgie. Hodgie, Hodgie, Hodgie."
"Who's #32? Man he's big."
"F Canada... Go back to Canada... You guys don't even have a military." (We have more Canadians on the roster than Americans.) |

I can agree with this. That said, I place blame on everyone (practically) in the entire organization. Aside from a few players (and maybe the trainers) the entire thing stinks like a rotten pile of trash.
Right now the targets are everyone on D (especially Myers, see your point above) and Miller. The thing is I really don't have a problem with the negative attention drawn to the D and Miller.
Miller and Myers are really affected by confidence. If the entire team was playing better I think they feed off of it. Myers is getting bashed nightly and I'm sure he sees it, hears it and feels it. It HAS to affect his game knowing that he's under intense scrutiny on every shift. |

People were yelling at Myers on every play in the building yesterday. That IS pathetic. Nothing like smelling blood in the water, I guess. Give the kid a break. - nfph
For Sure Tinny, its like a witch hunt in this town sometimes. If you get in the angry mobs target your screwed. This team is in real need of a decent #2 line that can control the puck and pop a few in. If they can find that it will help the defense out a lot. Sure the start has been awful and the situation with the coach/owner stinks but what the eff else do we got right now.....

There was a guy near me who was l-i-t up drunk, yelling all kinds of profanity and anti-canadian stuff the whole game. Habs fans on the other side of him. After he left with 1 minute left, I nodded to 'em, walked over and shook their hands. "Nice game, you guys are definitely better to have around than Leafs fans."

I agree, this organization (Ruff Specifically) allows a lot of this player bashing to continue because he never publicly defends his guys. All he would of had to do was come out and say "Myers is playing fine, he's getting better every game", and it probably would do wonders for him. Instead these guys are lambasted without support of their coach |

fanbase picks their enemies and no matter what will never like the player again. its started on these forums with ennis, even though minus 2 disgustingly lazy turnovers/no backcheck afterwards has played a pretty good season. i guess he said something about not caring about faceoffs too, but hes played pretty well.
had a really good game last night and someone said he was terrible but the 3 points will hide the fact that he was terrible |

usually what I see around the Bell Center in Montreal for games vs. Toronto are fat gingers with Domi shirts that insists on showing you their Eagle Ed Belfour tattoo. |
