it's not like bryz is letting in 5-hole dribblers and missing stoppable shots. for the most part, shooters are coming in with speed, making a move, and picking a corner, usually up high. not easy by any stretch. still, the team needs him to make a stop here and there. at the same time, our scorers, are absolutely dreadful. let's blame bryz when we don't score at the other end. read fired that puck right into JTs pad.

Where the hell would the flyers be without bryz? We should be able to put to bed the buyout nonsense soon

The one Read did score probably gets called dead 99% of the time before that puck squirts free. After seeing the replay, I'm not entirely sure that play should have been kept alive either.

It's entertainment to me. As long as you go in knowing your not getting a sports round table you'll be fine.
- Just5

My issue is, overt stupidity annoys me.

It's too much Skip Bayless style to suit my tastes. I'd rather listen to Zeppelin or Pearl Jam to be entertained.

Yes. A guy sitting on a stool for 3 hours is certainly capable of jumping up and going in and stopping 3 shooters in a shootout

I noticed this too. All joking aside, he's not going to ever be more than a 13th forward who gets sparse playing time. But I had to keep checking the bench to make sure no one was missing. Seemed like Giroux was out every other shift almost, playing on that line.
- jmatchett

Sestito is intriguing. I'm not a fan because I don't really trust him. But he has physical skills. He's big, can hit and fight. Skates well and has good hands for 4th line player. But where he lacks is in hockey sense, and making the little plays. If he could improve that part of his game and do the little things right, as far as positioning, winning puck battles and making the safe plays. Like Knuble and Shelley do, then he is a viable role player.

It was kind of close, but Theodore only held it for a split second. I do prefer a ref that doesn't assume it's covered when he's not in position to completely see the puck.

I'd rather see a goalie have to hold the puck for an extra half second or so than see a loose puck blown dead because a fat slob can't be bothered to be in position

Caller driven sports talk radio will rot your brain, period.

"Hey Ange, this is Jimmy from the Northeast. I wanna trade Leighton, Rinaldo, and our first round pick for Ovechkin.

I'll hang up and listen."

WIP is pretty much "Bryz sucks! *objectifies woman*" or "Cliff Lee lost another game [after pitching 10 innings]! *objectifies woman*" or "Joe Conklin is funny! *objectifies woman*"

One of the most glorious things about living in Cape May is no WIP. The Atlantic City guys don;t know poop either, but they admit it. Cataldi doesn't know poop, but acts like having Morganti and Jones around gives him knowledge.
- Jsaquella

Next time Cataldi tries to catch something dropped from a helicopter instead of a baseball, he should graduate to an anvil.

The NHL had ties for almost a century. I don't see what was so bad about ties. Because people need to see a "winner"? Give me a (frank)ing break. Nobody won the (frank)ing hockey game. One team won a stupid skills competition that ignores 99% of the sport of hockey. The game ended in a tie.
- Jsaquella

Well, ideally a tie game would still be a possible result. The NHL wants the shootout, though, so it's something to which I've resigned myself. The idea that teams should be awarded as if it's a tie, but still play for to get a 'winner' is laughable. It's like having your cake and eating it too, except the cake has a gooey poop filling.

I agree with you there. I like that the ref swallowed the whistle and I'd love to see that happen more often but from a consistency standpoint, I expected it to get blown dead.

Agreed there. Usually that play gets whistled. Obviously Theodore felt he held it long enough.

He had that puck for easily long enough for a whistle to be blown. Flyers caught a break on that one. It's like I said about that play earlier in the Season when the ref was out of position and blew it dead and it cost the Flyers. They even out over a Season.

I've seen it before, too. Considering how Leighton played in his lone start, how comfortable would he be doing a shootout?

Bill, what do you think about the power units? I'm not to sure if I like Giroux, Briere and Voracek all on the first unit. The 2nd unit has been more or less awful and I feel like adding Briere or Voracek to it might increase it's effectiveness.
- NickTheKid87

When Simmonds comes back tomorrow, he'll be back on 1st PP unit. I think Briere will go to 2nd unit.

according to callers into Angelo "Ange" Cataldi, Bryz is the problem and Leighton should have been put in for the shootout.

Ange agreed

The Law of Averages at work again. And I know most Flyers' fans would be LIVID if that was the Panthers who scored on an identical play. They'd want the refs crucified for not blowing that dead.
