i realize jake has fumbled a few pucks in the early going, but i cannot comprehend why he's 10th (!!!!!!) amongst flyers forwards in even strength TOI. sure, he spend a lot of time on the PP, but i just think good things usually happen when that dude's on the ice.

see: sestito's first goal, and briere's and coburn's goals against carolina last week.

- OrangeBlack27

If he keeps playing like he has been, his ice time will go up. The first 8 games he looked slow and tentative with the puck.

The best part about last night was my mom-in-law giving me my belated birthday present: an orange #8 Grossmann jersey. She wanted to give it to me back in September during preseason but couldn't because... lockout.

@Vej

In the Penguins series last spring Voracek looked like the best skater for the Flyers after Giroux. He has a ton of talent, but doesn't show up every game. I am hoping he strings together a bunch of great games now that he is getting back to form.

I guess I'd consider trading him but it would have to be for a puck moving defenseman that could play top 4 minutes.

The Flyers don't have many guys that can control and move the puck like Voracek.
I hope they keep him, but I am probably in the minority.

he's finally picking it up now, but one thing i recall when he came over in the trade, the jackets gm had publicly called him out in the past for conditioning issues and maybe the effort he put into that. voracek seemed offended about the comments yet it seems he showed up this year with exactly those problems... really hope it's not a theme.

Love the G-Mann.
I wish he was playing with Coburn, not a huge fan of 8 with 3.

I think Jagr pushed him last year.
I have the same concerns with him, I guess we'll see.

have a hard time imagining he showed up out of shape when he was playing in the khl all fall. maybe he's just a slow starter?

I think it was confirmed that he gained weight while in Prague and Hartsy and the like were teasing him about it. I don't think conditioning is the issue though. He doesn't seem gassed or anything. I think he's just in a funk.

I would not be shocked at all but I think I'd prefer to try to land a top pairing defenseman using B. Schenn and getting a cheaper option to play wing with G. Nathan Horton wouldn't be a bad option. Patric Hornqvist will be an RFA (who I would love) as will Mikkel Boedker who I think has a ton of potential. Niederreiter could be a cheap option or maybe Paajarvi like Bill suggested.
- NickTheKid87

Horton and Hartnell flanking Giroux would be a beast line. I think Boston would like to keep him, but just my opinion. Hornqvist would be a great addition, pots 25 goals a year playing with less talent.

Question for the wiser... is there a buyout "window" each of the next two summers, and if so, does it fall before UFA starts? Just wondering if we could throw cash at Perry before buying anyone out, aka Briere.

I would assume you'd have to have the cash available before offering it but I'm not 100%.

perry's combo of grit and hands would be perfect for the flyers, but he's their best plyr, so between him and getzlaf, he might be the guy to stay. then again, they don't have much at C, so...

The buyout period is before Free Agency.
