I disagree with this line of thinking.

With cap management you should have rough dollar amounts slotted for each position. The money you are going to pay a #1 center should already be factored into you cap. Same with your #1 d-man.

My point is the money you are going to eventually (2014) pay Claude to be your #1 center should already be in your equation. Same as when you find the replacement for the #1 d-man on this team.

That's the Eagles approach to building a team under Banner. That's a poor approach in my opinion. You pay a player what their worth.

Will be interesting to see if they sit back in the 3rd like they did against every team they led going into the 3rd.

I got on him at times last season but he has been a good soldier.

Kept them in a lot of games and come up with great saves. You would like to perhaps see a star goaltender bail them out on the 2nd goal but that's wishful thinking.

Bryzgalov is the one source of stability this season.

That's how you wind up with a bad team and letting players go that you shouldn't. Because they exceeded what you have appropriated for a certain position. Each player should be evaluated on his own merit. Eagles devalued certain positions as not being worth the money. That's why they never got over the hump.

I just felt last year was an adjustment period, compounded by losing their top dman etc he closed out last year strong especially after they went and got grossmann and kubina, who both helped with the down low stuff. This year I expected him to be more consistent, if not pull the trigger on a buyout. I think even if people weren't fans last year, there's no need for people to continue ripping him and get behind him. Sometimes I wonder if people realize he plays for the team they supposedly like, if so get on board. I don't know guess some people ain't happy unless they have something to gripe about.

I didn't say you don't evaluate a player on his own merit. You evaluate said player and slot him accordingly.
