I didn't say you don't evaluate a player on his own merit. You evaluate said player and slot him accordingly.

It just seems like, in the cap era, you can't be fully stocked in any position, not for long anyways. Teams seem to put big bucks into a core of highly talented players, and have to fill in the rest with modestly paid role players/reclamation projects, entry level players (with hopes of overachievement), and just plain sneaking by with less at a position. It's not ideal for the Flyers, but it's the times.

The G line looks like they need McGinn.

I dropped in midway through the second period. I was kind of surprised to see Simmonds out there. How has he looked so far?

Im not worried about him long term I just think he is trying too hard right now. People always say how competitive he is so he is probably putting pressure on himself from both being the new captain and coming off last year.

2 terrible turnovers at the defensive blue line.

One leading to an offensive zone draw that the Flyers proceeded to lose and the puck ends up in the back of the net.

All in all he has looked like his usual self.
