@TravisHeHateMe: @mirtle JVR Acquired for a traffic cone. Incredible, really.
@Me: @TravisHeHateMe in case you haven't missed it you idiot, Schenn has been incredibly solid and the Flyers best and consistent dman so far
@TravisHeHateMe: @Me Yes, playing the softest minutes of any defenseman on the team.
@TravisHeHateMe: Yeah, and Timmonen is dragging him around the ice like dead weight because KT is really good. http://t.co/4kChbBvP - FLYERSROCK!
...isn't it actually the exact opposite situation? (according to behind the net, at least) |

...didn't we also get lupul in that deal? - FlyerMike18
Yep, Lupul and Smith for Pitkanen and Geoff Sanderson.
Pitkanen has always managed to get less than he should out of his ability. He's become a very solid NHL defenseman, good number two guy that can play a ton of minutes, but he's not a stud |

You would be correct and "yes" he was traded for Pronger. My general point is there has been a lot of discussion about the Flyers not developing their own d-men. At the time, I think Joni was 24 or 25. He offers an offensive flare from the blueline the Flyers usually don't have. I'm not saying it was an awful trade, just looking back not really sure it was the best move. |

i hear ya, definitely see the point. weren't there rumors about him being a bad guy in the locker room? (pretty much made it sound like he was a weirdo...tough to get along/work with). of course, that stuff often can be overplayed |

They should be in the middle of the pack seed wise when the season is done. |

Gotta get 2 points from Toronto, you have to figure Leighton will get the start against the Jets.

seriously....obviously he's no burner or anything, but looking much more mobile than he has in the past. at least it seems that way to me |

I'm really liking him, hope he keeps improving he was a beast out there today and his mobility really is underrated. - JoeRussomanno
as long as his decision making is good the rest of his game makes him an asset. |

No doubt. I think of the teams in the top 8, 2 fall out; Montreal and Toronto. |

I believe I read similiar rumors. At the time, Lupul had a really bad year in Edmonton. Gator was a guy they really wanted at the time, heck he was named captain. Sanderson was well, Geoff Sanderson. I agree with Jsaq's assessment he is not a #1 d-man, but does give a defense some nice offensive boost. |

For sure. The decisions will get better too IMO. That's not to say some regression from time to time won't happen either. But in the next year or two I think they have a good compliment for a real number one. |

Remember when the Flyers really messed up by not grabbing Zach Boychuk?
In 5 games played in Pittsburgh, almost exclusively playing with Malkin and Neal, he's had 0 points and 2 PIM. |
