Remember when the Flyers really messed up by not grabbing Zach Boychuk?
In 5 games played in Pittsburgh, almost exclusively playing with Malkin and Neal, he's had 0 points and 2 PIM. - Jsaquella
kinda funny. they were interviewing him on NHL net and he was talking about all the great things the team was doing and i'm thinking "Whad you have to do with it?" |

Shortstickenan would look pretty good right now on the Flyers.
Even though I'm not a huge fan of him, he's the type of offensive D man they could use. |

Gotta sit Bryz for the Peg. It'll be ugly but pay off when he's not chewed up in May. |

Add a true #1 and this Flyers Defense looks dam good. Not saying that's Carle. Because he's not that player. |

Meszaros will certainly help. Silver lining to his shoulder injury, is more time for the Achillies to get stronger.

I'm really curious to see what Homer does with the blueline because you just know he is goin to do something. McGinn has shown not to be out of place in the top 9, Knuble I believe can be effective on the third or 4th line when Hartnell returns. He has some assets with some top 6 forwards to do something. |

You never know, he might add a player. I want them to make the right move, not just a move. I don't know that the player they need is going to be available anytime soon. Nice to see Voracek and B Schenn coming on last few games. |

absolutely
but i think a top 4 puck moving d-man itself would be huge (one to play with coburn). not that a gervais/foster tandem at 6 is awful, but that would give the flyers a pretty damn deep/talented lineup with everyone healthy |

with another yr of Kimmo, this will work!
Luke Schenn and Grossmann have added a lot of nasty back there. |

Agreed. Also, I think with Coots gaining more experience, we're starting to see his offensive talent starting to show more consistently. He is the perfect compliment as a #2 center for G. |

I agree. There is no doubt that a player of Carle's ability would help this team a lot.

With the D they have now, the Flyers seem really vulnerable to teams that attack them with a speedy forecheck. They have a tough time breaking the puck out of their zone.
One more puck mover back there would make a big difference. If the same player can captain a power play that would help too. |

Although Couturier has to get better on faceoffs. He takes a lot of draws for the Flyers. He has not been good there. The last two games have been really subpar.

I could be way off base, but in two years, I just don't see both Laughton and B. Schenn on the roster. To me, it is pretty apparent G and Coots are the corner stones at center. One of the other two, I think will used to hopefully improve the roster. |

Quick breakouts that avoid pressure and create offensive opportunities the other way are very important. That's one thing that Carle was so good at. And that the Flyers miss a lot. And it's affected their offense. I use to laugh when I read comments from the Carle detractors that didn't realize what he brought to the ice.
