I think the first Canes goal, it was hard for Bryz to play that rebound into the corner. I don't have an issue with that goal. The second goal I'm sure he would like to have back.
I would give Bryz the extra day off. I would start Boucher in Toronto Monday night, and give Bryz the game Tuesday in the Peg. I have zero faith in Leighton winning a game anywhere vs. anyone. - PLindbergh31
First there would have be a roster change. Don't see it happening right now.

I feel that this is a case where the team as a whole struggled out of the gate. Not clicking offensively and on the PP. Briere was out to start, Hartnell went down. And I think Giroux has been pressing and trying to carry the team on his back. And has been forcing a lot instead of letting the play come naturally. More then anything like Giroux playing over his head last Season. I think he is still that player, and we'll see that in the future. - MJL
Definitely. It's not like this has been a typical season anyways, without a preseason a lot of players seemed to his the ground running, only without the running part. I'm not worried about Claude. |

not killing him on the rebound - they happen. just not a great goal. plenty of flyers down there - they were all on the left side of the ice and nobody got to the loose puck.
bouche was waived and sent down right? not clear on the new rules regarding recall. he can't be claimed if they want to bring him up, right? i don't think we'll see this happen - only if one of bryz or leighton get hurt will he get recalled. |

Flyers need to get Hartnell back. Get a player settled into that other Wing spot. And I think Giroux will get going. - MJL
no doubt. hartnell is (pretty obviously, at this point) a huge part of this team |

What would you rate Giroux on a scale of 1-10 (10 best)? - stveshdy
If one considers Crosby (pre-concussion) and Malkin types the 10 on this scale, I think Giroux ranks in approximately at 8 (maybe a tad more, or a tad less, I didn't want to give a decimal), and definitely working to move up. |

Which is unfortunate. Boucher has been playing games and is more suited to play as a backup with long stretches of inactivity than Leighton is. Not to mention he's flat out a better goaltender. |

I didn't hear much about him on the radio, aside from a hit Bundy and Tim really admired. This is a good thing for a player like Luke. |

I personally like Boucher better. But I'm not going to let my personal feelings affect my opinion and whether I like a player or not. Leighton is fully capable, and just as capable as Boucher is, to be a backup in the NHL. And Leighton has shown how well he can play at this level. He can play better then he did his first game. We'll see if he does when he get's a chance. |

Has nothing to do with personal feelings. Boucher is a better goaltender than Leighton is. That's all that matters. |

problem is he's played in 2 nhl games in something like 2 years. and by all accounts he didn't have a good camp. i've always been a big supporter of his, but i have my concerns at this stage. |

I think it does. Because the Flyers may not agree with that. If Boucher was clearly the better player. Then unless there was an injury situation. Leighton would be in the AHL, and Boucher would be the backup. I'm going to let Leighton play a few more games before I make a decision.

not saying he isn't now, just that i can't certainly say he is. isn't getting younger, and i haven't seen him play in a while. the way carolina dumped him doesn't look good either |

But he played at a high level in the AHL. There wasn't much of a camp. Other players were allowed to be rusty for a few games with the situation. Don't see why it should be any different for Leighton. Let the guy play and see how he does.

Although Couturier has to get better on faceoffs. He takes a lot of draws for the Flyers. He has not been good there. The last two games have been really subpar. - MJL

I'd rather have Leighton over Booch in a starter position but he isn't a starter. He's admitted he plays better when he is in a lot of games and he won't be in many games. I'd rather have Booch in a back up position. |

there is no question that there's an air of inevitability of a loss when leighton's in goal...any reaasonable chance against is a hiccup remedy. w/ boosh, there's a chance, because he's a better spot plyr. |

Maybe. We will see what happens. Leighton will get a couple more games to see what he can do. It's not easy to play well when you play once every two weeks. I view Leighton as a journeyman who is a borderline NHL goaltender who happened to get hot at the right time.
If this wasn't a short season, I wouldn't be as worried about him, but with only 36 games remaining every point is at a premium. |

I just feel Boucher is better suited to play with extended periods of inactivity. Maybe I'm wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. |
