Maybe kaleta can solve our goal scoring problems. I think his average is about 6 in 82 games. - Brockv
We don't have goal scoring problems. We're 8th in the league in goals for per game. It's keeping them out of our net that's the problem. And actually, Kaleta can help with that. He's a fantastic defensive forward. The PK is much better with him than without him. |

Sekera is an important piece to the defense. He's been the most consistent guy this year.
I really don't get the hate on this guy. He's really not a bad player. - HonkFortheGoose
Me neither. He's our best skating defenseman and dare I say he's been our best defenseman this year, along with ehrhoff. |

He falls down quite frequently. He seems to lose track of which man he's supposed to cover. His turnovers usually lead to goals.
Besides that, he's not that bad. He's a pretty fast skater and I like his passing skills. He usually faces good competition so I'll give him credit. I'd like him to join the rush more because he has the skills to be a good offensive Dman.
Has a good contract too. |

I agree. They've been the best of the guys we have.
Something I just realized. They've given up 4 goals a game since Kaleta got hurt. Including the game he got hurt during (the hit was late in the 1st period). I don't think it's a coincidence. I think he's an important piece to the defensive puzzle here, even though he is a foward. |

Sekera needs to be in the 3/4 role. He does struggle a bit when forced to play against the top guys all night. But he's solid. His turnovers are usually in the offensive zone and he usually gets back quick enough to cover up for the mistake in the first place. I like his defensive game. I just get frustrated with the decisions he makes in the offensive zone a lot. But I think they need to put Myers with him and just leave the pairings alone. Myers played his best hockey last year when he was paired with Sekera. Someone else pointed out that Sekera's style is very much like Tallinder's, so it kind of makes sense. |

buffalo talked about being tougher to play against. nothing harder to play against than a in your face grinder. kaleta does not cheat you in effort, during the 9 minutes he gets a game. |

Agreed Sekera is one of my favorite players he is solid d-man at a good cap hit and people hate him so much it's mind boggling. |

He doesn't take penalties very often (18 PIMS in 69 games last year). He's a career +7. He averages close to 20 mins a night. He plays on the PK and can play on the PP, though Ruff doesn't use him there. |

So if Ellis and McCormick are scratced as reported, who is going to center the 4th line?
Hecht going back there? Is that mean Gerbe with Grigorenko? |

I don't necessarily hate that idea. Gerbe is quick and has good hands. It could work. |

I think the hate for Sekera is another case of the Buffalo hive mind. Lets pick a player and hate on them for absolutely no reason.
Corsi stats proved Sekera played against the toughest competition last year and did well doing it. He was like 4th for dmen on giveaways. He always usually plays with our bottom pairing forwards too. |
