Honestly, even a team with great character and solid veteran leaders running on all cylinders would be taxed on this trip. Two back to backs, then it ends on a 4 games in six days slog from NJ to Montreal, back to NY and then out to Pittsburgh.
6 points is probably more realistic than 8 - Jsaquella
Get it done boys. Fatigue will be a factor but this team has some young legs.

Can't believe Mitch Williams left that pitch dead down the middle. That ball was crushed along with the hopes of winning a title. - stveshdy
He was burnt out. Fregosi went to the well too often that year it caught up with them. Besides they blew a 10 run lead earlier in the series, wasn't meant to be.

No I did, but I spent most of my time occupying various administration buildings...smoking a lot of thai stick...breaking into the ROTC... and bowling. To tell you the truth Brandt, I don't remember most of it - Jsaquella

I look at Mariano Rivera. Dude was used more than a chick on the strip of vegas and yet he found a way to get it done.

Could also be a simple case of knowing that they'll need the back up to play at least one, if not two games in the next week and Boucher has been playing in the AHL regularly for the past month, wheras Leighton's been facing half speed practices. - Jsaquella
I'd throw the backup out there twice for the hell of it. They found ways to lose with good goaltending this year anyway might as well keep Bryz fresh in case they get really hot. Hate to to see the team get hot and the goaltending over cooked.

That's like expecting every first basemen to break the homerun record. Rivera is a very special player who played on an Allstar team. Williams was a mullet headed closer on a hot streak playing on a team with a bunch of overachievers. Little bit of a difference. They really won and lost as a team that year, same as 2010 flyers, even Pronger had -5 performance in game one iirc.
He's not hurt. He was the backup in yesterday's game. How could he have gotten injured since then?
I'm glad the Flyers came to their senses and made this move. They made a mistake signing Leighton, they realize this, and have replaced him quickly with very little damage done. - PLindbergh31
So it's not possible that as they said, Leighton hurt something in practice on Friday. Figured it wasn't anything serious. Dressed as the backup on Saturday. Then at practice on Sunday, realized it had worsened. So the Flyers decided to put Leighton on IR, and call up Boucher?
Yep, against the Pens. He was watching Forsberg highlights on the jumbo screen

I was at that game with my son. His first ever NHL game. I was afraid he was gonna think that kind of stuff happened all the time. IIRC none other than Mike Rathje won that game in OT for the Flyers. Double bonus that Foppa was playing well at that time and he and Gagne looked unstoppable that night. All in all quite a memorable first NHL game.
