I don't know about that because boosh could be a spent force, but it wouldn't shock me. I think the brass want to re-evaluate the b/u position though. - isaiah520
Maybe. They must not like what they see from Leighton in practice. Boucher has been playing games and is better suited for the backup role. I would play Boucher in Toronto, and give Bryzgalov the Winnipeg game. Give Bryz the extra day of rest and he should be sharp for Tuesday night. Signing Leighton to be the backup was a mistake from jump street. This move only solidifies that. |

I think Homer will do his best after this season to sign Read to an extension before he becomes a UFA after next season.
If cap issues arise (resigning RFAs: Couts, Schenn and Giroux) Homer can always trade Read and his contract for prospects/picks.
I personnaly would love to keep him. He brings so much to the team with his versatility.
History tells us Homer would rather give more years and get a lower cap hit.
An asset (Read locked in for 5-6 years) has better exchange value.

I hope you're right. Because I'd really like them to keep Read.

Which is what they should do. If they feel that Boucher is the better player right now, then they're doing exactly what they should do. |

Who is a better player or a better backup, Leighton vs. Boucher, is a different argument. Then whether or not Leighton is suited to be a backup in the NHL. Which like I said, that one single statement has morphed into Leighton isn't a capable backup. Every player, plays better with more playing time. Including Boucher. - MJL
My argument is that's Booch is more suited to be a back up than Leighton, and its more beneficial for Leighton to be getting the bulk of the starts in the AHL. |

Leighton has shown the ability with the Flyers to carry the heavy work load as a #1 goalie. If (and certainly hope not) Bryz is down for a significant part of the time, I believe Leighton would get the call as the #1 with Boosh as the back-up. I can understand the logic of the team to bring up Boosh for this road trip because at least he has been playing more regularly with the Phantoms then Leighton as the back-up. |

Luke Schenn's playing time was reduced last Season, and by all accounts he struggled for a lot of time last year. So based on that, I should have used that information to label the player? Or should I use the 12 games that I've seen him play as a Flyer this year? Your call! - MJL
that's funny. you've used 3-4 gms and already pronounced McGinn to be an nhl plyr. I think so, but I need to see more. trying to draw a parallel between a judgement re luke schenn vs one for leighton or the eminger trade - forget it. I know what you're trying to do and it won't work. move on, because you've.lost.the.argument. |

Exactly! I've actually watched the player play NHL games, and play for the Flyers before jumping to an uninformed or biased conclusion on the player. Same goes for a trade that is made. Only in very rare occasions, such as in a deal or move that I truly don't understand, will I make a pre-judgement on it before it plays out. And never will I allow an outside source to form my opinion. To substantiate or back up my opinion from a credible source, yes. But never to form it. |

No he does not. They have the option to simply Waive Leighton, if he clears which is likely. Assign him to the AHL. And Re-call Boucher.

I'm not exactly pumped about having to play Boucher or Leighton at all, but I much prefer Boosh. I'd give Boosh the Toronto game, to give Bryz a few days off before the Peg.
7 out of 8 points as we finally play a few games at home, and we're right back in it. Not so doom and gloom after the homestand in here, I like it. That being said, we bomb on this road trip... fire Lava! Trade Schenn, Voracek, all of our draft picks, buy out Briere and Bryz!
Wouldn't it be appropriate for JVR to get injured during the game tomorrow night? Not that I'm hoping he does, I just think it would be funny. |

It should be interesting. I'm expecting the thread to contain plenty of discussion between fans of their respective teams, on who got the better of the deal. |

I'd do the reverse and go Bryz in TO, then come back with Boush in Winnipeg. |

Fair enough. Some were saying that Bryz might be getting a bit tired, looked a bit sloppy yesterday. The extra day off before we continue this horrid road trip might help. Bryz also needs to tackle this Winnipeg thing sooner or later |

So tired, frustrated and baffled by the backup goalie carousel in Philly.
If it didn't pan out the first and second time, why not try a third time with BOTH previously failed experiments. Unreal !
I love how active and creative Homer is, but those qualities seem to vanish when it comes to backup goalies.
PHI==========Boucher (1M) - Leighton (900k)
NYR = ========Biron (1.3M per)
Pitt==========Vokoun (2M per)
NJD========= Hedberg(1.4M per)
I'm grateful for what Boosh and Leights did for us in the 2010 run but times change.
Seriously, what happens if Bryz gets injured or he goes into a season/playoff slump.
Poor judgment and lack of foresight from management.
