No he does not. They have the option to simply Waive Leighton, if he clears which is likely. Assign him to the AHL. And Re-call Boucher. - MJL
So in all likelihood leighton did get hurt and this more than likely expedited the process. But the conspiracy theory is entertaining and maintains a 20% chance of being true I suppose.
Kudos to Plind for calling it, gotta give credit where it's due. |

Giroux and Matt Carle are tied in the points race with 7 points each |

Although facts get altered here more than Jessica Simpson gets pregnant, it is safe to say that Da Man was not one of those down on Bryz before the season. Maybe one of the few.
While some lesser minds will debate Bouch v. leighton, I am here to tell you it is meaningless. The real concern is that Bryz gets burned out.
If and when it happens, certain Dark Side posters will provide explanations. Others will deny Da Man's comments ever existed. But the few smart members will listen and pay heed.
Cheers!

I don't know. There are a number of possible scenarios. He could be hurt. They could also want to see Boucher play in the NHL before making a decision on who they want as the backup. Anything is possible. But my thought is that if they were ready to make that change, and go with Boucher as the backup, because they don't like what they see from Leighton. Then why the charade? Why not just waive him and send him down? Why carry 3 Goalies on the Cap, even for a week?

If the concern is Bryz getting burned out, doesn't the debate of Bouch vs Leighton deserve some merit?

Absolutely not. It is easy to get fooled by fools.
An appropriate schedule for Bryz is indifferent as to who plays in his days off.
A few foolish jokes may be funny for a few seconds, but in the long run, they are just foolish!
As I forewarned, after Bryz get burned out there will be Dark Side pontificating for hours as to why it happened. This movie is older than Casablanca. And we've all seen, over and over and over.
Cheers! |

Always was more of a believer in Boucher.
If he doesnt get hurt early in that SCF run he would have been the guy to go through Montreal and start against the Hawks.
Maybe its just because I like the guy, but I think Boosh has one more run in him. |

To me it's simple. I personally favor Boucher also. But it comes down to this. Who is the better player right now! That player should be the backup.

After 2
Oshawa - 3 (Laughton with an assist, Suellentrop with a goal)
Sault Ste. Marie - 2 (Cousins with a goal)

I think both guys can get hot, and cold. My decision comes into play with having more confidence having Boucher come in without playing much.
Leighton just seems to take more time to get up to speed.
Thoughts on the Flyers drafting Zach Fucale if he is available? |

Lilja was seen trying on and adjusting goalie gear the other day at the practice facility in Voorhees...

Not to mention Leighton has only gotten hot one time in his entire career. |

Precisely.
And I haven't heard much of Fucale but unless there is a goalie with top 5 talent I don't waste a first round pick. Too much of a crapshoot. |

As Bill pointed out when Leighton was re-signed, he's played better when he's getting regular work. Boucher isn't leaps and bounds better, as both guys are backup journeymen, but he's shown the ability in the past to be able to be a solid back up while not getting regular work.
If the coach can have confidence that the back up will come in and play well, he'll feel more comfortable in giving Bryzgalov a night off here and there. |

To me he was never really that hot. He made the saves he had to that year. He provided some stability.
By no means did I see him really bail out the team like Bryzgalov has shown he can do. Its nice to see Ilya play well. Hope he keeps it up. Will be really nice to go into next season with confidence in the goaltending situation. |

I don't think there is a slower goalie in the entire NHL. His lateral movements are pathetic.
He's been waived, not traded, like 100 times. That tells you all that you need to know IMO.
How you been man? |
