It's just funny because it seems like we're making a bigger deal about Colton Orr than we do when we have to face Crosby and Malkin.
- NickTheKid87

Laviolette seems as if he is concerning himself with Orr as well. Hence Shelley being in the lineup.

I generally don't want Shelley in there, he actually played a decent game in the one game vs. the Rangers earlier in the season. I don't have a problem with him in there tonight to kind neutralize Orr to a degree. I haven't been impressed with Fedetenko this year at all, I would assume he's the one that is going to sit.

Look at everything that happened. The Flyers were looking to add a physical defensive defenseman for the future. And they were looking to add a top defenseman in either Suter or Weber, to replace Carle. There is a big picture to consider.
- MJL

the moves were mostly reactionary and we were left w/ b/u plans in the case of schenn and gervais, foster et al. the lockout allowed for guys to heal up or this could've been real ugly. imagine starting the season w/ no kimmo.

we still need a puck mover but we're getting by and luke has so far made a positive contribution. the fact that we've withstood the loss of mez also speaks well about luke. we both know that we'll need everyone on board to make any kind of plyoff dent. looking like we've finally given up one scorer too many after all of these yrs, though.

Agree to disagree. I feel he's superior to Timonen.

He was bitten by a new breed of mouse called a Grabovski. Happened in the locker room after the game Saturday.

I liked the explanation that somebody posted about maybe using Shelley over Sestito and Rinaldo because of the high emotion atmosphere of Toronto. That makes a lot of sense. Either way, it should make too much of a difference if Shelley plays like he did in the game he played this year. He was fine.

"The team is likely to find out today that forward Mikhail Grabovski (3 goals, 5 points) has been suspended as a result of a biting incident in the game against the Habs."

Way to jump the gun on that one... If you saw what happened, you would understand that a suspension would be unlikely for the incident (precedent was given when Burrows was accused of biting, but the video showed what really happened). It was a dirty and cowardly play from Pacioretty as much as it was from Grabovski, but really it was just some extra rough stuff in a fairly (awesomely) violent game.

Good read from LeBrun I thought. Made sense. Holmgren will probably be in the market for some offense if the Flyers stay in the playoff race.

That's unpossible.

I've been led to believe that Colton Orr is an unstoppable hockey presence.

Just a ridiculous amount of energy everyone is expending over a really bad hockey player.

Thanks for pointing that link out.

Basically, the Flyers have to make sure they keep it together on this road trip and to not make the early season hole they dug for themselves any deeper.

Saw what happened when it first happened. Addressed it earlier in the GTD as well. When the NHL publicly announces a hearing, they usually already have their mind made up to suspend.

A fruit fly has a longer shelf life, than Vick running Chip Kelly's gimmick offense.

A GM looks at his team and sees what weaknesses he wants to address. Schenn was not a backup plan. It was a real need. Just because they didn't get the type of player that you wanted them to get, doesn't make it a backup plan. Do you really think that Holmgren traded JVR for a backup plan? Not the case.

I think that offense is taylormade for Vick. The problem is going to be when he gets concussed in his first game and Foles has to run it.

Exactly. Vick is a pretzel. He's going to get destroyed running that offense. Especially being behind a sieve of an offensive line.

I'm sure if Homer was able to land Schenn and Weber, then one of Grossman/Coburn/Meszaros would have been traded away. But since they didn't, the Flyers retained all current defenseman (sans Carle).
