I think there's a possibility of that. But I think Read can be a better player in the future then Umberger has turned out to be. He has more potential in my opinion. In my opinion Read can be more then a utility or role player.

I think "utility" player, at least the way I believe most think of that term, sells Read short. Most of the time you hear someone described as a utility player, it's about a guy (Talbot is kind of an example), with a solid overall game who can do spot duty on a scoring line. But if he has to play on a scoring line for an extended amount his offensive shortcomings get exposed.

To me, Read seems like kind of the opposite of that. He's a talented player with a high skill set that can play full time on a scoring line and do very well. But he's also smart enough and defensively responsible that he can kill penalties and do a lot of the other responsibilities typically given to role players or "utility" players. So I see him as more of a scorer that can also check and kill penalties as needed.

Instead of utility guy I like skilled versatile 2nd line forward

Guys I've finally put it all together....it makes sense....

Shea Weber has ZERO points. Why, you ask? Thanks for asking. I'll tell you why. He's throwing games because he's pissed at the Preds for matching. He wants to play for us. I know he does. He told me.

So he's putting the Preds in a corner. Nashville knows they won't field a competitive team for a while with the contracts of Pekka and Shea on the books, and with Weber's play of late, it seems the only choice is to deal him to the team he REALLY wants to play for (this summer, of course, when that 1 year time frame is up).

The going rate for him should be Laughton and a 1st, based on the early season trades we've seen so far. It's a no brainer.

he has one point. so i want nothing to do with him unless it involves trading him straight up for Giroux, Couturier, B. Schenn and 3 firsts.

I'd only get him if we could do a three way trade for Oliveoil Eklund Larmer

Shelley's role in tonight's game is underrated. As is Orr's.

hahah I think that's nuts that he is on pace for 4 pts so far.. Imagine if we had gotten him and he started that way after paying a huge price?? Burn the bus Montreal style.

Well, I suspect Shelley is in to counter Orr so he doesn't run roughshod over us like he did the Habs..

You'll be here. Can't golf yet so what the hell else would you be doing?

I think this will be a high scoring game.

I agree. In my opinion, Read is a top 6 Forward who can play in all situations. Pretty valuable player.
