The first 30 seconds, and last 30 seconds ruled! Those pesky other 59 minutes.

Majority of the conversation today was JVR/Schenn and Colton Orr.

If someone said before the game that JVR would toast Schenn for a goal, and Orr would score the game winner, I don't think anyone would have believed it.

- PLindbergh31

Agreed. I would have thought the Flyers would have played better.

Giroux looked completely lost out there tonight.

I still think this team misses Jagr a whole lot.

This team got out worked. I don't really know who to blame for lack of effort: coaches, veteran leadership, youth.

Everyone. We win as a team and lose as a team.

as far as i am concerned the only player on this team who should be safe is Giroux ... ant trade that can improve this ream should be made ...oh and JVR for schenn looks just as stupid now as i thought it was when it was made is that 8 goals for JVR now... great call holmgren

If they fire Laviolette who is replacing him? Murray or Paddock would be a waste of everyone's time.
- PLindbergh31

Never been a Paddock fan, so hopefully Murray if those are the only choices. Personally I hope Lavy stays. But if the team can't work harder for him than they did tonight, he's doomed.

holy crap, just got home from class and I was thinking it might be an OT game.

something tells me we were even worse than the score indicates.

I see Bryz was pulled. That's not good.

Tonight was simply piss poor effort, coupled with terrible decision making and execution.

The troubling thing is, the blame lies not on the younger guys, but on the key vets, like Grossmann, Coburn, Giroux, Briere, et al.

- Jsaquella

this team's problems tonite started in their own zone. lazy plays, shortcuts on their breakout -one by voracek led to a goal -and lack of committment to team d in general. a real cluster(frank).

Even the people on facebook were saying the D blew the game tonight...not Bryz!

Mercy pulling. He allowed 4 goals, wasn't really to blame on any of them. Their defensive coverage was like throwing a wash cloth on an elephant

Might be time to call Gustafsson up.

That about sums it up. Came out of the locker room in the 2nd and decided to be spectators.

Absolutely. Every goal Bryzgalov allowed was off poor play or effort in their own end. Bad clear, and everyone stops skating for a second and the Leafs have a guy wide open to score.

Not sure what the answer is. Too many games where there is a lack of effort. Not sure who else can pay the price other than the coach.

This road trip has a chance to get really ugly. Tomorrow night is almost a must win.

But firing the GM who went hard after Parise, and Suter, and went balls to the wall after Weber is the solution?

It's the players.

Last season was a fluke, I think. And I use fluke loosely. Believe it or not, but I think this team went into rebuild mode when they traded Richie and Carter. They turned a new stone, for better or for worse. I don't think this team "was supposed" to do as well as they did last year. Let's face it- they surprised everybody.

Now, maybe these guys are playing back down to Earth a little bit. Besides, the average age of this team is....25? We all know this is a young team. Add to the fact that we lost a good chunk of offense in the offseason and...well....this is where we are. Towards the last phase of a rebuild. We were just blessed that the guys Homer brought in a few season ago took their chance and ran, in essence skipping the "sucking for a long time" stage.

They're a few pieces away from contention. A #1 dman and a winger away. Right now, I don't think this hockey team is this bad. I don't think they're a playoff team, but I don't think they're this bad. It happens though- humans play this game. Humans can overperform, and they can underperform.

Who knows- maybe these guys will turn it around.

I do know this though: the young core of this team (Schenns, Cooter, G, Read), along with Bryz between the pipes is something I don't want to see blown up.

- Giroux_Is_God

I agree with everything you are saying, but if we are in a rebuild why sign an older goalie to a 9 year deal?

Why do we think a "major shakeup" is going to turn things around? This isn't NHL 13.

Keep the core, and watch it blossom. Because it will.

It seems when they score quickly in the first they fall apart.

This team needs help.

I've been in favor of replacing Foster with Gustafsson for about a week or ten days

Because he was one of the best goalies that we had a chance at getting in a long time.

Every good team needs a good goalie. Young or not. So now we have him.
