I don't know exactly, why, but he just doesn't produce on the wing. He got time and space for the first time in the whole game in OT on Saturday and scored. His reluctance to put him back at center reminds me of him putting Carter and Richards on the same line in the SCF and refusing to split them up even though they were awful together. It seems like it SHOULD work, but it isn't.

In case you're not aware, the entire NHL thinks of the Flyers as the Broad Street Bullies, and that hasn't been the case for 2, close to 3 decades.
Also, when people think of the biggest scumbag in recent history, Avery and Cooke are the first 2 that come to mind.

I know what reputation Zac Rinaldo has and I know what others think of him but that doesn't mean he's actually a dirty player.

Rinaldo's in the league to be a high energy agitator so of course everything that comes up on Youtube will have to do with his reputation. Datsyuk is a highly skilled player so why wouldn't his high skilled plays be the first few videos? The fact of the matter is that Youtube or what have you has nothing to do with how a player actually plays. Neither does what people think of him.

Pronger was one of the dirtier players in the NHL in regards to front of the net scrums and behind the play antics but since he is such a talented player, he'll have less of a chance to be labelled as "dirty".

Actually, I never thought Avery sucked. I thought he was very good at what he did, I just thought he was a scumbag.

But fair enough, let's see: Avery was released by the Rangers organization in March of 2012, so that's 11 months. Please tell me all of the terrible scumbag things Rinaldo has done over that same period that make him such a scumbag. Hitting Crombeen while he was falling (which the ref even said was fine), okay. Please tell me everything else. If we want to back further than that, then we have to be able to include the king scumbag Avery.

Seems like he wants the kids in their center roles. It's why he should be bought out this summer. If the kids are entrenched in their center roles. We could find a couple wingers at dannys cap hit to fit in the lineup

He's not a choir boy, but his role is to play with energy and an edge. There hasn't been a bigger POS in the NHL over the last 10-15 years than Avery.

if you read my recent posts you would see that i'm not saying rinaldo is a scumbag...just that he has that reputation and he earned it because of his antics such as:
his hit on zubrus
his hit on galiardi
his hit on michalek
his charge on ericsson (which was deemed bad enough to warrant a 2 game suspension)

remember he's only been in the league for a season so this is a pretty impressive resume so far if i do say so myself.

In a 48 game schedule, 10 games are far from irrelevant. If the Flyers struggle to get points in the games started by the backup, they will more than likely miss the playoffs.

So, a Rangers fan can come in here and take over the thread on a Flyers/Leafs gameday?

Boucher and Leighton aren't bad enough to lose all 10 games. If they can win 4 or 5, then all is well. If the Flyers can't overcome Boucher or Leighton between the pipes then they have much bigger issues.
