my grade 2 choir teacher taught us a trick where we would have to sing "Where still the mighty moose wanders at will" except we would sing it "...the mighty mooooo swanders at will". She said we needed to do this so we dont all say our S's at different times and sound bad.
She also used the phrase 50 lashes with a wet noodle a lot which as an 8 year old I found hilarious.

So Thom just doesnt want to sound bad probably.
