I think it's pretty obvious in watching Luke Schenn play, what his potential is. As well as knowing how important that type of player is, in building a top team. |

They did use a 1st rounder that year on defenseman Luca Sbisa. - Jsaquella
only cause nashville took pickard.
shame it wasn't MDZ or eberle, but you can do that sort of second-guessing all day.
edit: knew pickard turned out to be not much, but didn't realize he had played his way out of north america. his younger brother is playing alright for colorado's AHL team this year, though. |

Red hot mess...
Bill said it best.
You can hide one of Gervais and Foster at the six spot for under 15 minutes a game.
But to have both in the line up at the same time, it is going to hurt.
Gervais is dragging down Coburn's level of play, and the #8/#3 pairing is good for a Keystone Kops near disaster every game.
When Mez gets back and IF he can play at a high level, this team should be dramatically improved.
Coburn really benefitted from his paring with Kimmo the last few years, and he had something good going with Grossmann last season.
Bryz has been bailing them out, but he looks a bit tired and his play has come back to earth lately.
Tonight we get watch Wheeler and Kane streak down the wings around the defenseman. I hope they all get their angles and positions figured out, because if the D try to cheat towards the wrong side or pinch at the wrong times it will be ugly. |

I think I audibly LOL'd when I heard Bobby Sanguinetti's name over the PA at the Flyers game last Saturday. I hope his parents weren't around.
I had no idea he landed with Carolina. |

Actually, Sbisa is turning out quite nicely in Anaheim, and is probably a better all around defenseman. |

There is that side of it too.
I do think he benefits from playing next to a Kimmo or Grossmann.
A little off the subject,
another thing I liked about Matt Carle was he was effective even when paired with a rookie like Bourdon last year. |

hb kimmo this year, with all this talk about a slow start to a shortened season, 8 pts plus 3 when the team has a losing record... he is simply the man |

Need some offense as well. Can't score 1 goal and expect to win many games.
And Giroux needs to relax a bit on the PP...he looks so uncomfortable on that left point/slot position it makes me cringe. The classic 'gripping his stick way too tight', and then makes a horrid pass or 12.
Oh, and can we rent a faceoff specialist or something?

no doubt
losing Couts last night seemed to throw them all out of whack
not sure what is up with Giroux so far, I hope he bounces back soon
I don't think having Briere on his wing is optimum, but not sure what to do with Briere
when Homer traded Carter and Richards one thing he said they wanted was a better balance of wingers/centers
trading Briere for a scoring top 6 winger makes sense but not sure that is a deal that other teams would go for and that Danny would go for
he is a clutch scorer in the big moments of games and play offs, but when he doesn't score he looks really out of place on the wing |

they are more certain...however that does not negate the fact that they are still indeed valuable and coveted. Giving them up via offer sheet is a move i still dont understand.

With the way Giroux is playing right now, do you think it matters who's lining up next to him?
When they traded JVR for Schenn, they had a surplus of forwards, which they did, and they wanted to get some youth on the blueline. When the trade was made, Carle, Suter and Weber were all still options, Carle being the most realistic and I think we all expected him to get re-signed. It's easy to criticize the trade when the team struggles but how many games have Schenn & JVR played on their new teams? It's far too early to say who won or lost and, quite frankly, it doesn't really matter. - NickTheKid87
You can't be serious. You are seeing the end results of last summer right now. If what I have posted was dead wrong, we would be having a better seasons as we speak. |
