How does that spell hypocrite? They'd have been better off with 7 centers?

1. I wonder if Bryz is sick. He just didn't look quite like himself last night.

2. With 25% of the season gone, I think my low expectations for the full season will be met. Sucks, but it is what it is. I just hope they don't make a panic move focused on the short term at the expense of the long term because they're not going anywhere this season anyway.

Patience really is the key here. It's totally possible that as early as next year, we'll see Giroux put up 90-100 points, Schenn 60, Couturier 45-55, Voracek 60, etc. That would make everyone's outlook on the team change, no? I believe this is a very real possibility as well.

There was nothing wrong with Bryz last night, in my humble opinion.

I think his yanking was a wake-up call to the team, as opposed to the coach being displeased with his performance.

- Atomic Wedgie

The team did a fantastic job of sleep walking in front of Bryz during the 2nd period.

I agree.. He had no chance on any of those goals. Orr's goal was off of a rebound from an original deflection.

Talbot's sight seeing cruise around the defensive zone was especially impressive, on the one goal. He reminded me of the guy in Slap Shot who skated around in his underwear while the brawl was going on.

He played 2 seasons. If we would have traded G after two seasons people would have ended up poopting rocks.

Very few players come into the league and tear it up. VERY FEW. They are the exception really. painful, debilitating stuff.
JvR was prime to break out last season, but had injuries set that back big time. Really battled through some
Fast forward to this season. He is healthy, playing on a top line, and doing what?

Oh, only 8 goals in 13 games, a 50 goal pace in an 82 game season. Do I expect this pace to continue? No, but I do expect him to be much more consistent..

Not true at all. The Otto-Podein-Klatt line was a dominating checking line.

It was a funny game: the Leafs forgot to show up for the first shift. It wasn't just that the Flyers scored - it's that the Flyers completely outclassed them for the first 38 seconds.

Being a Leafs fan, I instantly assumed we were in for a 7-1 shellacking. About midway through the first, the Flyers were outshooting the Leafs about 2:1.

End of one, a pretty even game.

And then in the second, Flyers poop the bed. But then Reimer goes down, and once again I assume the worst. Perfect opportunity for the Flyers to make it a game again.

Flyers didn't look bad after that - they put 33 shots on Scrivens in 36 minutes. Just didn't score.

P.S. Panaccio tweeted that the fans booed Schenn when they honoured him on the scoreboard for his past charitable work in Toronto (Luke's Troops). That just a big fat lie. For eff's sakes, people were saying "Luuuuuuuuuuke"

Carlysle got the Leafs going in the first intermission, because they came out on fire in the 2nd period. The Flyers never recovered, and Scrivens looked really good when he came in.

Briere on the wing, especially LW is not what we need. If we have too many centers, trade one or try someone else on the wing who has yet to prove themselves as a goal scorer (schenn)

Still waiting for the scathing Bryz piece, too. I mean, how DARE he talk to an elderly fan after being pulled.

He was a #2 selection for a reasons. AND he also is soft. Guy could be so much more if he used his body. Of course I will eat crow now as I suggested trading him (not for L. Schenn straight up as he is/was worth more).

The thing I can't stop thinking about is how much Flyers fans have had to suffer over the past 2 years. It really is unreal. Frick and Frat with a cup, Pronger gone to concussion, JVR (our asset from the worst season EVER) scoring on us last night and more goals then anyone on our team. Ect. I know we have had some great teams but really?

Hockey gods...what did we do to deserve this? Was it the overly publicized throwing of snowballs at Santa?

I need a drink.

What did JVR do here that showed he can reach his potential? He did nothing....
- Philly1980

I guess my question to all is, what was Jvr suppose to achieve in there seasons as a Flyer and why do so many feel that he can't? I watch another young power forward develop late and feast on his old team (Montreal Canadiens) every time they played. His name was John LeClair. Also it took Scott Hartnell along time to reach 37 and I feel Jvr is way more talented then Hartnell by a country mile.

I haven't read a lot of his work, but my impression of him is he doesn't really get the culture of hockey.

I always wondered about that. I'm sure they all get a Flu shot.
- MJL

CDC said this year's flu vaccine was only about 65% effective in preventing Influenza.
Although supposedly if you get Influenza after being vaccinated it can be a less severe illness.

I think the team(s) use the word "flu" as interchangeable with many other viral infections.

Kind of like saying lower body injury, it can mean anything from groin pull to broken toe.

The biggest problem JvR had here is something you were just guilty of. Too many people compared him to LeClair. Totally different players in every single aspect.

JvR will NEVER become John LeClair. Ever.

That's kind of my point on the fear of a short-term panic move. There is a lot of potential on this team that will (should) be realized as some of these guys mature.

Make an off-season deal or two for some defense and be ready for 2013-2014.

This year's Cup winner gets an asterisk anyway, so not winning it this year isn't a big deal anyway.
