His last team in the LNAH was called "St. Georges Cool 103.5 FM".
EDIT: He's still playing for them. 19 games, 3.35 GAA and .902 SV% - NickTheKid87

I hear he's the new started for the Syracuse Bulldogs in the Federal League. Jean-Marc Pelletier had been the starter, but apparently underwent "Major Surgery. Open heart." - jmatchett
He's no Maxime Ouellet. |

What was JvR suppose to do here? What was he suppose to achieve? The 90s was a different era. In my opinion goals are much harder to come by today. LeClair had help, his name was Eric Lindros. Again, I laid out the question. What was JvR suppose to achieve here? How can anyone think he was what he was here? The sealing of JvR is high. Much higher then Luke Schenn is gonna be. I compare Luke Schenn to Adam Foote if he is lucky and even then, Foote was the beneficiary of playing with hall of game players ( not to say he wasn't good). If John LeClair is a bad comparison, JvR is still more talented today and long term then Hartnell.
James van Riemsdyk wasn't bad last season, he was side tracked by injury. Twenty goals in his second season is always a good sign, especially as a secondary scorer. - SuperSchennBros
I disagree i think goals are much easier today as they have clamped down on the clutching and holding that rampant in leclair's /lindro's times...The type of game JVR has to play is way easier now than it was. |

Anybody else hear this rumor that st louis and philly are starting to scout each other as trade partners... St Louis need a d man and have plenty of power forward type players.. That being said i dont think we have the necessary depth to start trading d men away - nonpoint22
I dont see Blues having any kind of need for D-Man unless they are looking a slow 6th Dman which Flyers have a couple to choose from. I think if anything Flyers would be looking at a Blues D-man. |

In 1996-97 there were 12 40+ goal scorers.. last season there were 4. In 1995-96 there were 18 40+ goal scorers, and 8 50+...
Scoring goals was either easier then, or there were FAR superior players. |

Well the game tightened up considerably and you also have to factor in that coaches adapt to playing styles over time. Technology has also made it easier for teams to scout one another and as time moves forward, the bell curve of talent starts to flatten out more. Marginal players back then aren't as good as marginal players now. The drop off of talent was steeper. |

nor should it. this was typical of the reactions the day of the trade however:
June 23 @ 5:46 PM ET
"I don't think there is any doubt that the Flyers got a good player today. Schenn is a physical defensman that is young and is still developing. And he's a RH shot. But my initial reaction is that the Flyers traded a potential 1st line Winger for a #4 defenseman. Now if the Flyers had a big hole for that level of D man, I'd be okay with it. But they didn't. So it's a little puzzling. So we'll see what else happens.
I feel that JVR has a much higher potential to be an impact player then Schenn does."
i agreed w/ these assessments then and still, even though i didn't post these comments myself. - isaiah520
Initial reactions are different from looking and thinking further into it. And my initial reaction was tempered with the disappointment of losing JVR, who I was looking forward to watching blossom alongside Claude Giroux. And that's what should be done. Further thought and information gathering to move from an initial reaction that has emotion involved. To a more thought out opinion once more information is gathered. It's a sign of objectivity. Instead of ignoring that information and stubbornly clinging to an initial reaction. Luke Schenn is already a #4 defenseman in this League. Right now! You believe that Luke Schenn is maxed out in his development now? At 23 years of age, there is no further room for improvement to become a better player then he is right now. Which would totally ignore the obvious areas that are evident in his play now. That can be improved with work by the player. With Coaching, mentoring, and the player gaining experience and maturity.
And from watching Schenn play here, I have a much better idea of what I think he can reach as a player. |

That's what I thought also. Blues might be looking for a 3rd pair player. We've got plenty of them. Don't know who they'd be interested in then.

Who did post them? Luke Schenn is already a #4 defenseman in this League. Right now! So if that was true, that would mean that at 23 years old, and because you agree with that. You believe that Luke Schenn is maxed out in his development now. At 23 years of age, there is no further room for improvement to become a better player then he is right now. Which would totally ignore the obvious areas that are evident in his play now. That can be improved with work by the player. With Coaching, mentoring, and the player gaining experience and maturity.
And the comment above takes into consideration the potential of JVR. But altogether ignores the potential of Luke Schenn. - MJL
Seems like the whole argument is based on what each of you think's Schenn & JVR's potential actually is. |
